Senior Supply Chain Planner

Amca is building America’s new industrial base. Since the 1990s, our ability to build new aviation and military systems and maintain the ones we already have has eroded. Today, the gap between what the nation needs to produce and what it is capable of producing is the largest it has been in generations.

To help close that gap, Amca rapidly develops and manufactures new critical components and subsystems required to build and sustain the planes, military vehicles, and core infrastructure America needs. Today, we operate seven factories nationwide, including our advanced prototyping and testing headquarters in El Segundo, and deliver avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for platforms such as the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, A320neo, A321, Mk-48, and M1 Abrams.

Senior Supply Chain Planner

Overview

Amca is building its own ERP system and the MRP that will run inside it. We need a senior supply chain planner to help us get MRP right. You will bring the judgment that comes from having planned for real production and apply it to how the system handles demand, BOMs, lead times, and order policies. You will write the planning requirements, work directly with the engineers building the system, and test MRP outputs to continually improve them.

The rest of the job is one you already know. You will own the master production schedule for El Segundo, maintain the BOMs and planning parameters MRP runs on, and release clean purchase signals to buyers. If the MRP outputs need manual correction before release, you will also correct what caused the signal to be wrong in the first place.

As Amca's homegrown ERP scales across our factories, the planning processes you define in El Segundo are the ones the rest of the company will inherit.

Responsibilities

Shaping Our MRP

• Own the planning requirements for Amca's custom MRP, covering how demand is calculated against inventory and open orders, how BOMs and revision effectivity are handled, and how lead times, order policies, exception logic, and RFPO release should work 
• Work alongside the engineering team through design, build, and release, and build planning logic that will survive contact with reality 
• Test new functionality against real builds and real data, define the acceptance criteria, and find the failure cases before they reach production 
• Define our planning processes, standards, and documentation as Amca scales to more factories

Demand Signal and Master Scheduling

• Own the master production schedule for El Segundo, setting build sequence, quantities, and dates against customer commitments and factory capacity
• Review MRP output after each automated run and release requests for purchase order (RFPOs) with enough lead time for buyers to act
• Pull orders in and push them out as priorities shift, and escalate early when the schedule is not achievable

Data Integrity

• Own the lead times, order policies, safety stock, lot sizes, yields, and part statuses that MRP depends on
• Create, maintain, and audit BOMs so they match what the floor builds and what supply chain buys, and drive engineering change through the system as revisions move
• Reconcile inventory records to cycle counts, WIP, receipts, and MRB
• Drive the number of exceptions and manual overrides toward zero by correcting the root cause in the data or the process, so the same problem stops resurfacing and the signal can be trusted on its face

Cross-Functional Execution

• Release RFPOs early enough to act on, with the part, date, build, and slack a buyer needs to prioritize
• Work with production, manufacturing engineering, and program teams on build feasibility, new part introduction, and revision changes
• Flag shortages, long lead exposure, and schedule risk early, naming parts, dates, and impact
• Set the bar for the planners who follow you, through the standards you write and the people you train

Expectations

In your first year, your signals are trusted by buyers and production, and our MRP system is better for your having been here. Buyers work from your signals verbatim instead of working around them, no build stops for a part nobody knew was missing, the plan needs fewer manual corrections than it did when you started, the planning logic running in production is logic you specified, and a planner joining next year can learn this job from documentation you wrote.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in production planning, materials planning, master scheduling, or supply chain systems in a manufacturing environment
• Experience through at least one ERP or MRP implementation, migration, or major reconfiguration, in a role where you fundamentally shaped how planning worked
• Demonstrated ownership of a master production schedule or a significant planning segment
• Deep MRP fluency, including how the plan calculates what to buy against what you already have, how order policies and planning settings behave, and what breaks downstream when they are set wrong
• Working knowledge of BOMs and how engineering changes flow through them
• Precise and detail-driven, willing to run a discrepancy down until you know what caused it
• Direct communicator who can hold a position with engineers and thrives when the plan changes

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing background
• Experience writing requirements for planning software with an engineering team
• Planning across multiple sites or factories in a multi-entity organization
• Familiarity with configuration control, effectivity dates, and engineering change orders
• SQL, Power BI, or exposure to capacity planning

Additional Requirements

• Based in El Segundo, CA, onsite five days a week. Remote work is not considered.
• Ability to travel up to 15% to Amca factories
• Willing to work extended hours as needed to support production
