Senior Sustainment Technician

This position is located at Warner Robins, Georgia and will support sustainment activities including advanced manufacturing/repair and corrosion technologies. The position will serve as a senior lab technician, responsible for machining of printed and traditionally manufactured components. This includes setting up, operating and maintaining equipment; consumable and spare parts inventory and procurement; preparing and tracking material samples; adhering to lab and equipment guidelines. The successful candidate will understand machining processes, additive manufacturing, and be able to provide guidance on design for manufacturability. A senior technician will also act as a mentor for junior technicians and engineers. The majority of work will support government customers, but some industry partners will be supported as well.

T3:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years operating CNC milling machines
- Minimum of 4 years reading, editing, understanding G-code (e.g. on machine controller)
- Minimum of 4 years setting up milling machines for jobs (e.g. setting tools, loading vises, indicating vises, sweeping in holes)
- Proper use of precision inspection equipment (e.g. micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, etc)
- Working knowledge of GD&T and military specifications
- Ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Experience manufacturing aerospace parts from titanium and nickel-based alloys
- Effective interpersonal/verbal communication skills with team members at all levels
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs
- Organizational skills

- Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

- 3+ years of experience machining additively manufactured or cast metal parts
- 1+ years of experience in heat treat operations
- Demonstrated experience operating Haas VF series numerical controlled equipment for machining complex 3D geometries
- Demonstrated experience operating Mitsubishi MV-series electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment
- Experience in interacting with design and manufacturing engineers and other technical personnel, providing guidance around design for manufacturability
- Demonstrated experience with lab environments and adherence to lab policies & procedures
