Company is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to help ensure that our high-speed, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft meets the required levels of reliability. The position is located at our R&D center in Petaluma, CA. Our team is developing an eVTOL aircraft with extreme performance capabilities to help first responders reach the scene of an emergency as fast as possible.

Our concept of operations for electric aircraft technology has the potential to cut first response times in half in rural areas -- helping save tens of thousands of lives each year. We are a team of aerospace professionals with deep aviation roots and insight into the evolving regulatory requirements for the coming advanced air mobility revolution. Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain models of all aircraft systems

- Work with the team to derive system requirements

- Manage systems-level requirements

- Evaluate/iterate candidate systems architectures

- Source components that meet the requirements of the architecture

- Develop the functional hazard analysis (FHA) for the aircraft

- Conduct failure modes and effects analyses (FMEAs)

- Conduct fault tree analyses (FTA)s

- Develop the systems safety analysis (SSA)

- Support the certification effort

Requirements:

- Minimum of 5 years experience in aviation systems safety engineering

- Familiarity with aerospace standards and systems engineering best practices

- Experience working with FAA certification projects

- Willingness to work on-site in Petaluma, CA with a small and diverse development team

- Willingness to work with outside partners and suppliers

Desirable:

- Relationships/experience with Tier 1/2 aerospace suppliers

- Shop experience -- hands-on engineer

- Electrical engineering background

- Aircraft certification experience

- Experience with practical implementation of System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA)
