Senior Tax Manager / Principal – Public Accounting

An established and growing public accounting firm in the Greater Cleveland market is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager or Principal to join its tax leadership team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned tax professional who wants to combine technical expertise, team leadership, client advisory, and relationship development while continuing to advance their career within a highly respected and collaborative firm.

The firm is open to professionals with a strong generalist tax background as well as candidates who have developed deeper expertise within a specific area of taxation.

Position Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee complex tax engagements for a diverse client base
• Provide proactive tax planning, consulting, and advisory services
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on complex tax and business matters
• Manage and strengthen relationships with existing clients while developing relationships with prospective clients
• Lead client meetings and communicate complex tax concepts in a clear, practical manner
• Serve as a technical resource for tax professionals across the practice
• Lead, mentor, coach, and develop tax team members at various stages of their careers
• Review complex tax returns, research, and technical matters
• Collaborate with other leaders and service lines to provide comprehensive solutions to clients
• Identify opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships
• Participate in business development, networking, and prospective client activities
• Contribute to the continued growth and strategic direction of the tax practice
• Maintain current knowledge of evolving federal, state, and applicable specialty tax regulations

Qualifications

• Significant progressive public accounting tax experience, ideally at the Senior Manager, Director, Principal, or similar level
• CPA or JD Required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Strong technical tax knowledge with either a broad generalist background or specialized tax expertise
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting professionals
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong client-facing, relationship-building, and advisory skills
• Ability to confidently interact with business owners, executives, existing clients, and prospective clients
• Strong technical research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple complex engagements and priorities
• Interest in contributing to the continued growth of a tax practice through client development and relationship building
