    Job Description

Want to help scale Amazon"s global fulfillment workforce, supporting them with efficient, engaging, and empowering experiences while keeping them safe and happy? Join the Amazon Fulfillment Technologies Experience Design team (AFT-XD). We are seeking a Senior UX Designer who is passionate about the intersection of the physical and virtual worlds, reaching beyond what is shown on a screen to include the physical environment, building layout, equipment, work processes, and emerging modalities like AI-mediated interactions, computer vision, and voice interfaces.

The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who owns outcomes end-to-end. You understand business impact and technical constraints, proactively frame problems worth solving, and deliver solutions that scale across Amazon"s global fulfillment network. You will own a portfolio with a defined charter, maintain a roadmap balancing big bets and strategic priorities, and influence stakeholders across multiple organizations. As a Senior UX Designer, you will work alongside product managers, engineers, and researchers to improve the safety, productivity, and engagement of 1M+ Amazon associates worldwide. You will drive the user experience from a global perspective, ground decisions in research and operational reality, and communicate the impact of your work crisply at the leadership level.

This role spans the full product design lifecycle: research, problem-framing, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and measuring post-launch impact. You will develop fluency in emerging technologies within your domain and leverage AI tools to accelerate your workflows. Where applicable, you may push front-end code and contribute to production readiness.

What can we offer you in return?

You will be part of a growing team that will support, challenge, and inspire you every day. AFT-XD is a multidisciplinary team of designers, researchers, design technologists, and program managers who shape and simplify the fulfillment center experience through a human-centered design process. Our experiences span a range of devices and modalities that evolve as rapidly as our operations do. You will work on complex, strategic products that rethink how fulfillment centers work. You will own a clear charter within a business portfolio, build deep domain expertise, and develop continuity with key stakeholders to support long-term influence. Your primary portfolio is your north star for growth and impact, with opportunities to flex onto cross-cutting initiatives based on team needs. In addition, you will have access to mentorship from senior designers, IC design leads, and the broader Amazon design community. We invest in our team members to help them build their unique careers.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own a well-defined charter within your business portfolio. Frame problems worth solving by understanding business objectives, technical constraints, and operational context. Advocate for the user"s point of view while balancing feasibility and business impact.
    • Drive the full product design lifecycle: research, problem-framing, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and post-launch measurement. Deliver solutions through whatever artifact communicates the idea most effectively, whether that"s journey maps, user flows, wireframes, clickable prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, or production-ready specifications.
    • Partner closely with product managers and engineers on problem-framing and solution definition. Run research, build prototypes, and measure post-launch impact for high-priority initiatives.
    • Develop fluency in emerging technologies within your domain (e.g., human-agent interaction, AR/CV patterns, AI-assisted prototyping). Leverage AI tools to accelerate design workflows. Where applicable, push front-end code and contribute to production readiness.
    • Communicate the work and its impact crisply and frequently at the leadership level. Build continuity with key stakeholders (L7s, L8s, partner teams) to support long-term influence.
    • Maintain a 6-12 month roadmap balancing big bets and strategic priorities. Scope and manage work on assigned initiatives, provide regular progress updates, and escalate issues when needed.
    • Run intake/prioritization, and sprint planning within your portfolio.
    • Contribute to design infrastructure and standardization across AFT"s products, including the team"s design system. Surface proven patterns from project work for potential standardization.
    • Ground decisions in operational reality by incorporating field research, customer feedback, usage metrics, and usability findings. Perform metrics analysis post-launch to inform ongoing optimization.
    • Participate in peer mentoring, skill sharing, and the Bar Raiser Forum to raise the design bar within AFT and across Amazon.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
