Job Summary

As a Server's Assistant / Food Runner, you are an important part of the team that keeps The Eagle's Nest running smoothly. You will work closely with servers, culinary colleagues, and restaurant leadership to deliver food accurately and promptly, maintain clean and properly set tables, keep service areas stocked, and anticipate the needs of both guests and fellow team members.

This is a fast-paced, physically active position ideal for someone who enjoys teamwork, takes pride in the details, and wants to help create an exceptional dining experience.

Essential Job Functions

• Deliver prepared food to the correct guests and tables promptly and accurately.

• Verify orders before delivery, including appropriate accompaniments and communicated dietary or allergy-related information.

• Communicate effectively with servers and culinary colleagues to support accurate, timely food service.

• Clear, clean, sanitize, and reset tables according to restaurant standards.

• Assist servers with water and beverage service, utensils, condiments, and other guest needs.

• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked service stations throughout the shift.

• Transport dishes, glassware, silverware, trays, and other service items safely throughout the restaurant.

• Assist with opening, closing, and side-work responsibilities as assigned.

• Maintain awareness of guests and coworkers while moving through dining and service areas to help prevent spills, collisions, and other safety hazards.

• Follow food safety, sanitation, responsible beverage service, and hotel safety procedures at all times.

• Provide courteous and professional assistance to guests and respond promptly when assistance is requested.

• Work collaboratively with restaurant, culinary, and hotel colleagues to support efficient operations and exceptional guest service.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, food service, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.

• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, supervisors, culinary colleagues, and other team members.

• Ability to understand and follow work-related instructions, menu information, food safety procedures, and safety requirements.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively as part of a team.

• Professional, dependable, and service-oriented approach to work.

• Must meet all applicable Indiana requirements for any duties involving the service of alcoholic beverages.

• Availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical & Safety Requirements

• Ability to remain on your feet, including standing and walking, for the majority of a typical shift, which may be approximately 6–8 hours.

• Ability to frequently walk between the dining room, kitchen, and service areas while carrying food, dishes, or supplies.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to safely carry trays, plates, glassware, and other restaurant service items.

• Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive movements associated with clearing, resetting, stocking, and food delivery.

• Ability to safely navigate a busy restaurant environment that may include wet or slippery surfaces, hot plates, sharp objects, and crowded service areas.

• Ability to follow established food safety, sanitation, emergency, and workplace safety procedures.

• Ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment and safe lifting techniques when required.
