Service Manager - Industrial HVAC Systems

Location: Skokie, IL | Full-Time
Hybrid: Office/Field Role
Compensation: $90,000-$120,000 DOE

Lead Critical Mechanical HVAC Operations

We're hiring a Service Manager to lead and support our Industrial HVAC Systems division. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for an experienced mechanical HVAC professional who thrives in the field, enjoys solving complex system challenges, and knows how to support technicians while maintaining exceptional client relationships.

This is not a desk-only management position. You'll spend time in both the office and the field, serving as the technical leader for complex mechanical systems, supporting technicians on critical service calls, visiting customer sites, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

If you're known as the person everyone calls when the difficult jobs come up, we'd like to meet you.

Who We're Looking For

  • Experienced industrial or mechanical HVAC professional with proven leadership ability
  • Trusted technical expert who can diagnose and resolve complex mechanical system issues
  • Confident leader who enjoys mentoring technicians and developing talent
  • Strong communicator who works effectively with customers, technicians, vendors, and office staff
  • Calm, solutions-focused professional who leads by example in high-pressure situations
Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex industrial HVAC service and installation challenges
  • Visit customer sites to provide hands-on technical support and assist technicians with troubleshooting
  • Coordinate daily field operations, technician scheduling, and service priorities
  • Foster clear communication between technicians, customers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Oversee onboarding and documentation for new customer mechanical systems
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations
  • Support job costing, documentation, project tracking, and operational efficiency
  • Mentor technicians and promote ongoing technical development across the service team
Required Experience

  • 10+ years of industrial, mechanical, or large-scale HVAC service experience
  • Extensive experience with chillers, boilers, RTUs, hydronic systems, pumps, and mechanical room equipment
  • Previous leadership experience as a Lead Technician, Field Supervisor, Service Supervisor, or Service Manager
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control systems
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities
  • Comfortable using mobile technology, service software, documentation platforms, and digital communication tools
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Preferred Experience

  • Healthcare, industrial manufacturing, institutional, or mission-critical facility experience
  • Building automation or controls troubleshooting
  • Central plant operations
  • Experience leading technicians in live service environments
Priority Will Be Given to Candidates Who

  • Have been the primary technical resource for complex mechanical HVAC systems
  • Excel at troubleshooting chillers, boilers, RTUs, and hydronic systems
  • Are comfortable stepping into active field situations to support technicians
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with customers through technical expertise and professionalism
  • Lead with accountability, humility, and a team-first mindset

Compensation: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
