We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Online Consultant for a 6-month contract position in Irvine, California. You will lead a critical data migration initiative from Egnyte to Microsoft SharePoint Online, collaborating closely with the IT Director and business stakeholders to design the target architecture, execute the secure transfer of cloud file storage assets, and ensure data integrity throughout the process.
Responsibilities
- Conduct discovery and audit of the existing Egnyte environment, including data volume, folder structures, user permissions, and active vs. archival data assessment.
- Design the target SharePoint Online architecture, including site collections, hub sites, document libraries, metadata structures, and content types aligned with organizational governance standards.
- Formulate a comprehensive migration strategy, risk mitigation plan, and timeline that minimizes business disruption.
- Configure and deploy enterprise migration tools such as ShareGate, SharePoint Migration Tool, or specialized API scripts to facilitate data transfer.
- Establish data mapping schemas to ensure accurate translation of Egnyte permissions to SharePoint Online permissions, including Azure AD/Entra ID groups and site-level permissions.
- Execute pilot migrations to validate speed, accuracy, and tool configuration, followed by phased batch migrations and final delta cutovers.
- Conduct post-migration verification audits to ensure data integrity, structural alignment, and permission compliance.
- Implement Microsoft 365 security best practices, including conditional access policies, external sharing restrictions, and data loss prevention parameters.
- Troubleshoot and resolve migration errors, permissions mismatches, and corrupted file flags.
- Document the final SharePoint Online architecture, permission matrix, and migration configurations for business teams.
- Provide post-migration hypercare support to resolve end-user access issues during the initial rollout.
- Assist in establishing standard operating procedures for SharePoint governance and lifecycle management.
Qualifications
- Required
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience architecting, configuring, and managing Microsoft SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 ecosystems.
- Proven history of executing at least 2 large-scale SharePoint migrations, with direct experience migrating from Egnyte to SharePoint Online.
- Expert-level proficiency with industrial migration tools such as ShareGate, Mover.io, or Microsoft Migration Manager.
- Strong PowerShell scripting skills, particularly with PnP SharePoint.
- Solid understanding of Azure AD/Microsoft Entra ID groups, nested permissions, and security roles.
- Deep knowledge of SharePoint taxonomy, managed metadata, retention policies, and document management principles.
- Experience working with business teams to gather and fulfill requirements.
