The Sheet Metal Installer is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and systems. This position requires mechanical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to safely use hand and power tools while working independently or as part of an installation team. This will be a temp job on a construction site. 2-3+ months of work.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Measure, cut, bend, shape, and assemble sheet metal according to specifications.
Install ductwork, flashing, panels, fittings, vents, and other sheet metal components.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, measurements, and installation instructions.
Properly position, fasten, seal, and secure sheet metal components.
Use hand tools, power tools, shears, brakes, drills, saws, and other installation equipment.
Perform field measurements and make necessary adjustments during installation.
Inspect completed work to ensure proper fit, quality, and workmanship.
Troubleshoot installation issues and make repairs or modifications as necessary.
Follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and job-site procedures.
Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and a clean and organized work area.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, contractors, customers, and other trades.
Complete assigned projects efficiently while meeting quality and scheduling expectations.
Qualifications
Previous sheet metal, HVAC, construction, or mechanical installation experience preferred.
Ability to accurately use a tape measure and basic construction math.
Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings preferred.
Experience with hand and power tools.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license may be required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry approximately 50–75 pounds.
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work for extended periods.
Ability to safely work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and elevated areas.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and job-site conditions.
Work Schedule
Full-time position. Work hours may vary depending on project schedules. Some overtime, early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekend work may be required.
