    Job Description

    Day-in-the-life: Keep our metal moving

When you start your shift, you’re the first line of defense for material accuracy and readiness across our sheet metal operation. You verify what comes in, safeguard what we store, and stage what’s needed—so production never skips a beat and customers get what they expect, on time.

    Morning — Receive and verify

    • Receive inbound materials, confirm quantities against purchase orders, and inspect for damage or defects.
    • Verify material certifications (mill and test reports), capture heat or lot numbers, and label to maintain full traceability.
    • Flag and report any discrepancies or quality issues immediately.

    Midday — Organize and record

    • Store materials in assigned racks and locations so they’re protected, organized, and easy to find.
    • Follow proper handling and storage methods to prevent damage or deterioration.
    • Record receipts, moves, and issues in our ERP (Fulcrum) to keep real-time inventory quantities and locations accurate.

Throughout the day — Stage, load, and deliver

    • Pull materials to work orders and shipping schedules; stage in designated areas clearly labeled and ready for use.
    • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and other vehicles; secure loads to prevent damage or accidents.
    • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and overhead lifting equipment safely and efficiently, including completing pre-shift equipment inspections.
    • Deliver materials to production workstations; load raw sheets onto laser automation and unload finished parts from the laser.
    • Follow machine guarding, light curtain, and lockout/tagout procedures when working around automated laser and production equipment.
    • Retrieve finished parts and transfer them to storage or shipping areas.

End of shift — Accuracy and safety

    • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciliation.
    • Keep aisles and work areas clean and free of debris; report hazards immediately.
    • Wear required PPE on the shop floor: safety glasses, steel-toe boots, cut-resistant gloves, and hearing protection.

    Teamwork and professionalism

    • Communicate with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments to coordinate material flow.
    • Demonstrate professional etiquette when interacting with customers and suppliers.
    • Support safe manufacturing practices and help maintain a clean shop environment.

    Growth mindset and flexibility

    • Seek out training and learning opportunities—take initiative to understand the role and equipment more deeply.
    • Embrace challenges as chances to learn and excel.
    • Assist with special projects as assigned and adapt to changing priorities.
    • Willing to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Forklift certification compliant with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178, or willingness to complete company-provided training and certification.
    • Ability to safely lift and carry 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
    • Experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment preferred.
    • Basic math and the ability to read work orders and shipping manifests.
    • Read a tape measure; identify material by grade, thickness/gauge, and shape.
    • Comfort using computers, tablets, and barcode scanners for inventory transactions.
    • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and teamwork.
    • Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
