Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Shipping Coordinator to coordinate the outbound flow of orders through a busy distribution center. This position will be responsible for helping ensure orders are processed accurately and shipped on time while meeting customer expectations and daily operational goals.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a warehouse, distribution, shipping, logistics, or transportation environment and be comfortable managing a high volume of work. This position requires strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills, as well as the ability to work closely with operations, customer service, sales, planning teams, and transportation providers.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the outbound flow of orders to meet daily and weekly on-time shipping goals
Utilize warehouse management and distribution systems (WMS) to manage high-volume shipping activity
Communicate directly with carriers to schedule equipment during high-volume periods
Plan, execute, and monitor daily wave schedules based on changing business needs and operational requirements
Monitor shipment status and communicate updates, priorities, and potential issues to Customer Service and Management
Work closely with Operations and Customer Service to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow
Prepare and distribute daily wave-planning reports for Operations
Manage the daily expedite process and communicate urgent priorities or potential problems to Distribution Management
Ensure the most appropriate and cost-effective transportation methods are utilized
Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to on-time shipping performance
Work with Customer Service, Sales, and Planning to support timely order fulfillment
Prioritize and process special orders, same-day requests, and void, delete, or change requests
Manage the product allocation process and investigate and resolve wave fallout issues or rejected orders
Follow customer routing guides, distribution procedures, and applicable export requirements
Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced distribution environment
Qualifications
Previous experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse distribution, transportation, or a related field preferred
Previous experience working with WMS or warehouse/distribution systems preferred
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and changing business needs
Ability to work effectively with Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Planning, carriers, and Management
Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
Ability to follow company policies, procedures, routing guides, and safety requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and move throughout the warehouse as needed
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Must be able to safely perform assigned duties while following all company safety procedures
