United Mechanical is a leading commercial HVAC and plumbing contractor serving Northern California. We specialize in the design, construction, retrofit, and service of mechanical systems for some of the region's most exciting and technically demanding projects.

We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Associate to join our warehouse team in San Jose, CA!

In this hands-on role, you'll help keep our warehouse operations running smoothly by receiving, organizing, tracking, and preparing materials, tools, and equipment that support our commercial construction projects. You'll work closely with our warehouse team, vendors, and field personnel to ensure materials are handled safely, accurately, and efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Receive and unload incoming deliveries, verify materials against packing slips and purchase orders, and report missing or damaged items.
• Prepare, organize, and safely load construction materials, tools, equipment, and prefabricated assemblies for transport to job sites.
• Label, sort, and organize materials in designated warehouse and storage areas to ensure easy identification and retrieval.
• Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records, including entering material information into Smartsheet and other company tracking systems.
• Safely operate forklifts to move, load, and unload materials following required training and authorization.
• Keep the warehouse, yard, loading areas, and shared spaces clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
• Work collaboratively with warehouse personnel, vendors, and field teams to support daily operations and identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

• Basic computer and data entry skills, with the ability to learn new systems.
• Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Commitment to workplace safety and proper material-handling procedures.
• Willingness to complete company-provided forklift training and evaluation, if needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in shipping and receiving, warehousing, material handling, manufacturing, construction, or a related field.
• Experience handling construction materials, tools, or equipment, particularly in commercial HVAC or plumbing.
• Previous forklift operation experience or training.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, or similar tracking software.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on warehouse environment involving frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends when needed.

Compensation

$26.00 - $29.00 per hour
