    Job Description

    Job Title:                             Shipping Supervisor 2nd Shift
    Department:                      Factory Management                  
    Salary Grade:                    Salary Exempt
     
    Functions:
    Oversee entire shipping operation, including truck loads, LTL, interplant.
     
    1. Dock:
      1. Facilitate signing in of live load drivers/door assignments.
      2. Facilitate moving of preloads in & out of docks.
      3. Hand out load assignments for each day.
      4. Ensure loaders follow special loading instructions.
      5. Flex EE’s when necessary to ensure time sensitive orders make transit.
      6. Flex EE’s into teams for high volume hand-loads/loads.
      7. Ensure overall pace/efficiency is appropriate. Push pace/flex EE’s to finish loads and/or avoid detention.
      8. Ensure daily goals are met in terms of volume loaded.
      9. Ensure maximum densities are executed & overflow is avoided when possible.
      10. Work with factory to expedite freight for FTL’s, Consolidated Loads, etc.
     
    1. Quality/SOP’s:
      1. All product consolidated or hand-loaded meets standards.
      2. SOP’s are followed:
        1. Paperwork is correct.
        2. Multi-stops are separated by cardboard walls.
        3. Mixed skids are labeled as “mixed”.
        4. Picture taking process is followed.
     
    1. Pass Down/Notes:
      1. Daily pass down is executed between shifts.
      2. Load board/schedule is updated & contains correct information.
      3. Notes are entered on itinerary for FTL’s/consolidated loads:
        1. Overflow.
        2. Back orders.
        3. Missing skids/boxes.
        4. Mixed freight.
        5. Stacked skids.
        6. High volume hand-load.
        7. Load bars.
     
    1. Safety:
      1. All safety rules are followed:
        1. General fork-lift operating.
        2. Seatbelts.
        3. Safety glasses.
        4. Dock & aisles clean & free of obstructions.
     
    1. Continuous improvement:
      1. Before & After’s.
      2. Implementing lean practices.
      3. Implementing strategies to improve loading/consolidating efficiency.
     
    1. Monitor Email:
      1. Handle requests from CSR’s and/or PM’s.
