Experience:

Preferred: 1+ year leading a shipping, order selection, or loading crew in a produce or perishable-goods warehouse

Education Completed:

Required: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Preferred: Some college coursework in business, logistics, or supply chain management

Credentials / Licenses:

Required: OSHA-compliant powered industrial truck (forklift) certification under 29 CFR 1910.178, or completion of Matrana's forklift training and evaluation before operating equipment

Preferred: HACCP or food safety certification; Primus GFS training; warehouse safety certifications such as OSHA 10-Hour General Industry

Wage / Salary Range:

$25.00 - $36.00 per hour (D.O.E., scheduled shift, and active certifications)

Day Shift: Monday - Saturday, 4:00 AM - Close ¦ Night Shift: Monday - Saturday, 7:00 PM - 4:00 AM ¦ One additional scheduled off-day during the week ¦ Sunday: Closed ¦ Hours may vary with order volume and seasonal demand.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Shipping Supervisor leads the outbound shipping operation by directing Order Pullers, staging customer orders, and confirming that every route leaves the Matrana's Produce warehouse complete, accurate, and on time. This position assigns daily pulling work, organizes pallets and staging lanes by route, and checks loads against invoices and route tickets before trucks depart. The Shipping Supervisor works with the Dispatcher and delivery drivers to collects route folders and vehicle inspection reports, and reports truck and refrigeration unit problems to the Fleet Manager. Shipping runs on both day and night shifts, and this role keeps the assigned shift staffed, trained, and productive. The position also supports Primus GFS audit readiness, trains new employees on food safety procedures, and maintains fire extinguisher inspection records. The ideal candidate brings produce warehouse experience, the ability to direct a crew against firm departure times, and accuracy with order paperwork.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assigns daily pulling work to Order Pullers by route, delivery window, and order priority.
• Directs Order Pullers throughout the shift to keep pulling, staging, and loading on schedule.
• Trains new Order Pullers and other new employees on pulling accuracy, product handling, and Primus GFS food safety procedures.
• Organizes pallets and staging lanes by route so that each truck loads in delivery sequence.
• Verifies pulled orders against invoices and route tickets before loading.
• Prints route tickets and load paperwork for each route as needed.
• Supervises driver check-out, including collection of returned route folders.
• Confirms that delivery drivers complete and submit driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) in accordance with 49 CFR 396.11.
• Coordinates with the Dispatcher to cover every route each day and to arrange backup when a route is short.
• Reviews the delivery database for accuracy, comparing quantities ordered against quantities delivered.
• Reports vehicle and refrigeration unit defects to the Fleet Manager to schedule maintenance around route times.
• Documents Order Puller attendance, performance, and conduct concerns for the Warehouse Manager.
• Documents product samples provided for Primus GFS audits.
• Maintains annual fire extinguisher inspection and certification records for the warehouse.
• Assists drivers with loading and unloading as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Experience: 2+ years of produce warehouse or food distribution experience, including order selection, shipping, or loading

Credentials / Licenses: OSHA-compliant powered industrial truck (forklift) certification under 29 CFR 1910.178, or completion of Matrana's forklift training and evaluation before operating equipment

Skills: Directs and trains a warehouse crew against fixed departure times; reads invoices, route tickets, and load sheets accurately; uses Microsoft Excel and Outlook and the order or delivery database; performs case-count and quantity arithmetic; communicates clearly with Order Pullers, drivers, and the Dispatcher in English

Preferred

Education: Some college coursework in business, logistics, or supply chain management

Experience: 1+ year leading a shipping, order selection, or loading crew in a produce or perishable-goods warehouse

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE

• Work Location: Warehouse floor, refrigerated coolers, staging lanes, and loading dock at the Westwego facility.
• Temperature: Refrigerated warehouse temperatures (approximately 34-40 degrees Fahrenheit) and outdoor dock temperatures in all seasons, with frequent transitions between the two.
