Shipping Supervisor
Location: Youngstown, OH Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour, based on experience Overtime: Approximately 10 hours per week available Schedule: Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Shipping Supervisor to lead daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and material handling operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, shipping and logistics experience, and the ability to work alongside their team to ensure customer orders are shipped accurately, safely, and on time.
The Shipping Supervisor will oversee shipping personnel, coordinate outbound shipments, manage inventory movement, and maintain a safe and organized warehouse environment. This role is approximately 70% hands-on and 30% supervisory/administrative.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise and coordinate daily shipping, receiving, and inventory activities.
· Lead, train, and support shipping personnel to ensure productivity and accuracy.
· Prioritize workloads and assign tasks to meet customer shipment schedules.
· Verify and maintain accurate inventory records and material transactions.
· Coordinate inbound and outbound freight with carriers and customers.
· Review shipping documentation, bills of lading, packing lists, and freight paperwork for accuracy.
· Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed.
· Ensure products are picked, packed, banded, labeled, and staged correctly for shipment.
· Monitor inventory movement throughout the facility and maintain inventory accuracy.
· Collaborate with production, purchasing, and management teams to support operational goals.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
· Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and PPE requirements.
· Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
· Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, inventory issues, and customer concerns. · Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
Qualifications
Required
· 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics operations.
· Prior experience leading or supervising employees.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.
· Computer proficiency, including inventory and shipping systems.
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
· Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Preferred
· Forklift certification or prior forklift experience.
· Experience with inventory control and warehouse management systems.
· Manufacturing or metal fabrication industry experience. · Experience scheduling freight and working with common carriers.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday.
· Ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally.
· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
· Ability to safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment. · Ability to wear required PPE at all times.
