Job Description

You take pride in repairing something the right way the first time. You hate leaving a job half done, and you want a workspace where every tool has a place and the next person can find it. You like knowing what is coming instead of reacting to surprises, and you want the room to solve a problem your own way.

If that sounds like you, keep reading.

Why Work With Us

ORBIT Industrial works in crane service and installation. This role exists because the service group runs on equipment that has to be ready when field projects call for it. Company trailers, service vehicles, aerial equipment, welders, and shop machines stay in service because someone keeps them that way. Customer equipment moves through the shop and back to the customer because someone owns that turnaround.

That someone is the Shop Service Technician. The field crews count on you. The customers count on you. Sound like a place you want to show up to? Keep reading.

Please Don't Apply If

  • You wait a few days to flag a problem, hoping it sorts itself out.
  • You leave paperwork for later and later never quite arrives.
  • You call a job done without checking your own work first.
  • You put tools back wherever, and let the next person hunt for them.
  • You pull a piece of equipment out of use without telling the people it affects.
  • You stay quiet when something is not safe to run.

Our Ideal Applicant

You write down what is due and check your list every day. The maintenance calendar is a tool you use, not a page you glance at.

You flag a problem the day you see it. Small issues get smaller when they get named early, and you know it.

You wear the gear and follow the method every time. Not when someone is watching. Every time. You want everyone who starts the day to finish it whole, and that starts with you.

You finish the paperwork the same day as the work. Repair logs, PM records, and asset history stay accurate because you keep them current as you go.

You ask before assuming when something in the request looks off. A two-minute question beats a two-hour rework.

You plan the day around what has to be ready first. You like a problem you can take apart and understand, and you like work that ends with something running again.

You tell the people affected before taking something out of use. The crew counting on that piece of equipment hears from you, not from a surprise on the job site.

If that is how you show up, we want to talk.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Company Equipment Ready When Crews Need It

You keep company trailers, service vehicles, material-handling and aerial equipment, welders, hand tools, and shop machines in service. The work happens in the shop and at job sites, wherever the equipment is.

Repairs follow the equipment maker's specifications and safe work practices. A machine you put back into service stays reliable, so the crew that grabs it in the morning shows up to the job with the tools they came for.

Customer Equipment Turned Around in the Shop

When mobile customer equipment comes in, you evaluate it, repair it, and get it back to the customer. The shop is where you have the advantage. The tools are all here, which makes the repair faster and safer than working out in the field with limited resources.

You diagnose the real problem, complete the repair to the equipment manufacturer's specs, and confirm the machine is safe to run before it leaves. The customer gets their equipment back working, not working for now.

Downtime Scheduled Ahead of Failure

You plan and run preventative maintenance so equipment comes down on a schedule instead of failing in the middle of a project. Repairs and required PMs go on the calendar, and you coordinate with service and scheduling to mark a piece of equipment as down ahead of time.

That gives the team room to line up alternatives and keep field projects moving safely. The backlog of company maintenance shrinks and stays under control, because you are the one keeping it that way.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on mechanical and electrical repair experience on industrial equipment, fleet vehicles, or crane and hoist equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose faults on three-phase electrical systems, motor controls, and mechanical drive components.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance and repairs following equipment manufacturer specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Working knowledge of shop equipment such as welders, drill presses, and tire machines, plus material-handling and aerial equipment.
  • Comfortable working both in the shop and at customer job sites, including work at height with fall protection.
  • Detail-oriented with paperwork: repair logs, PM records, and asset history need to be accurate and complete.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record suitable for operating a company service vehicle.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs regularly and work in shop and outdoor conditions across the seasons.
  • Current or willing to obtain aerial lift, forklift, and any required site-safety certifications.
  • Self-directed on scheduling own work against a maintenance calendar without daily supervision.

Compensation and Benefits

$28.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on experience.

  • Health insurance with the company paying 50% of your premium.
  • Dental and Vison coverage available.
  • Company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, and AD&D. You pay nothing for these.
  • Simple IRA with a 3% company match.
  • Paid vacation that grows with you: 40 hours after 1 year, 80 hours after 2 years, 120 hours after 5 years.
  • 10 paid holidays every year.
  • Paid sick time.
  • Overtime as needed.

If you want a role where the work ends with something running again and the people counting on you are not left waiting, this is it. Hit Apply and let's talk.
