QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive

experience

in

the

field

of

network

cabling

and

some

general

maintenance

background.

Ability

to

read,

write

and

communicate

effectively.

Ability

to

lift

or

move

up

to

50

pounds

and

occasionally

up

to

80

pounds.

Ability

to

frequently

work

on

a

ladder

and

occasionally

use

aerial

lifts

with

proper

training.

GOAL:

To

repair,

and

maintain

the

districts

A/V

and

cabling

systems

and

install

technology

IoT

devices.

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES :

In

order

to

fulfill

his/her

responsibilities,

the

SKILLED

CABLING

TECHNICIAN

shall:

1.

Install

and

splice

copper

and

fiber

optic

cables,

such

as

SE,

CAT

5,

6,

6E,

7,

Coax,

low

voltage

cables,

and

fiber

to

include

terminations

to

BICSI

standards.

2.

Able

to

install,

test

and

diagnose

telephone

(R11)

circuits

3.

Able

to

install,

test

and

diagnose

audio

/

video

cabling

4.

Able

to

perform

multi

story

wallfish,

firebreak

drilling,

and

core

drilling.

5.

Able

to

identify

best

pathways

when

required

and

installation

of

Panduit/conduit.

6.

Mount

telecom

equipment

while

adhering

to

best

practices,

industry

standards

and

manufacturer

requirements.

7.

Able

to

install

routers,

hubs,

install

support

structures,

including

racks,

ladders,

j-hooks,

and

switches

to

best

practices,

industry

standards,

and

manufacturer

requirements.

8.

Able

to

install

projectors,

audio

/

video

equipment,

wireless

access

points

and

any

other

IoT

devices

9.

Able

to

install

cellular

repeaters

and

two-way

radios

10.

Maintain

PDU's

and

batteries

in

UPS

systems

11.

Install

and

diagnose

access

control

systems

and

surveillance

cameras.

12.

Physical

replacement

of

equipment

such

as

switches,

firewalls,

wireless

access

points,

etc.

13.

Maintain

all

documents

related

to

cabling

infrastructure.

14.

Perform

testing

and

troubleshooting

of

installations

as

needed.

15.

Manage

and

maintain

exact

inventory

for

parts,

tools,

and

supplies.

16.

Maintain

/

update

support

tickets

17.

Help

provide

field

observations

of

outside

contractors

to

ensure

the

work

being

done

is

completed

to

code.

18.

Troubleshoot,

repair

and

serve

as

a

point

person

to

contractors

when

it

comes

to

the

district's

"special

systems"

(fire

alarms,

intercoms,

clocks,

etc.).

19.

Providing

background

and

maintenance

history

of

the

system

to

aid

and

assist

in

the

necessary

repair.

20.

Perform

all

other

duties

as

assigned.
