Skilled Machinist

QPS Employment Group has a great opportunity for a Skilled Machinist position at a company in Saint Louis, MO. This is a 1st shift position with the opportunity for hire.

Wage: $28.00-$30.00 per hour

Shift: 1st

Hours: 6:30am-3:00pm

Skilled Machinist Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

• Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes (Okuma preferred).
• Write, edit, and troubleshoot G-code programs.
• Utilize Mastercam to create and modify toolpaths and programs.
• Perform machine setups including tooling, offsets, and fixturing.
• Run first-piece inspections and make program/tool adjustments.
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Monitor production runs to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Troubleshoot machining issues (tool wear, tolerances, finishes).
• Perform routine machine maintenance and basic repairs.
• Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve processes.

Skilled Machinist Requirements:

- 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.

- Strong G-code programming knowledge (editing and troubleshooting).

- Experience with Mastercam for programming/toolpath creation.

- Experience running Okuma machines/controls.

- Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances (GD&T preferred).

- Strong knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, and materials.

- High attention to detail and quality.
