Performs skilled trades work in the maintenance and repari of assigned County buildings and equipment; receives and completes work orders; ensures environmentally safe working conditions. Ensures that operatin and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and systems are in compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards; conducts maintenance inspections of buildings, equipment, grounds, and facilities to identify potential problems, unsafe conditions, and needed repairs; and initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations. Performs minor to semi-major electrical tasks such as changing switches, sockets, ballasts, driver and identify tripped breakers. Performs minor plumbing tasks such as changing fill valves, flappers, diaphragms, vacuum breakers, etc in sinks, toilets and urinals. Should be able to clear and unblock drains and sewer lines. Performs maintenance and repairs to heating and air-conditioning systems; installs or repairs duct systems; replaces filters; and assists with thr troubleshooting of heating and air-conditioning system problems. Performs other maintenance and repair activities; removes or installs flooring and ceiling tiles; removes or installs fixtures and appliances; paints interior and exterior surfaces; removes or installs carpet; performs general concrete work, performs sheetrock repair and minor carpentry work. Operates or uses various machinery, equipment, power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and related supplies in order to complete work assignments. Performs other related duties as required. High school diploma or GED required with some vocational or technical training in a mechanical maintenance and repair; supplemented by up to 2 years of experience in electrical maintenance or repair; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must have a valid South Carolina Driver"s License.
