Your role

To accelerate site-wide business transformation at PC Genesee by integrating Digital, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Smart Manufacturing, Automation, and Lean / Business Process Improvement capabilities to improve productivity, operational efficiency, quality, and competitiveness.

As a member of the PC Genesee Engineering team reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Smart Factory Engineer is responsible for developing and executing an integrated transformation strategy, driving cross-functional collaboration, and delivering measurable and sustainable business improvements across the site.

Main Responsibilities

Smart Factory Strategy & Roadmap

Work with VTPS Lead and Automation Engineer to develop and execute a comprehensive Smart Factory strategy and roadmap aligned with PC Genesee's business priorities and VTBA objectives to accelerate operational excellence and long-term competitiveness.

• Work to establish site-wide transformation priorities across Digital, AI, Automation, and Lean/BPI.
• Translate business challenges into practical transformation initiatives.
• Define short-, medium-, and long-term transformation objectives.
• Ensure alignment with divisional and Group digital and operational excellence strategies.

Digital & AI Transformation

With the VTPS Lead adopt and integrate Digital and AI technologies across PC Genesee to improve business processes, operational efficiency, and employee productivity.

• Identify and prioritize high-value Digital and AI opportunities.
• Promote AI-enabled productivity and data-driven decision-making.
• Establish scalable digital solutions in collaboration with relevant functions and Group experts.

Factory Data & Performance Management

Establish an integrated factory data and performance management framework to enable transparent, reliable, and data-driven business decisions.

• Drive factory data integration and effective utilization.
• Establish common performance dashboards and analytics capabilities.
• Improve visibility of operational performance and improvement opportunities.
• Promote data quality, standardization, and consistent performance measurement.

Cross-functional Leadership & Change Management

Work with Ops team for site-wide transformation by strengthening collaboration, stakeholder alignment, and organizational adoption of new technologies and ways of working.

• Partner with Operations, Engineering, SCM, Quality, HR, Finance, and other functions.
• Build commitment and ownership among functional leaders.
• Lead organizational change management and communication.
• Address barriers to transformation and ensure sustainable adoption of new processes and technologies.

Education level

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or a related technical discipline.

Relevant Previous experience (minimum years of experience to competently carry out the role, not total year of experience)

• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in manufacturing, engineering, operational excellence, digital transformation, or related fields.
• Proven experience in leading Digital Transformation, Smart Manufacturing, Automation, or Lean/BPI initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success in contributing to measurable business improvements through cross-functional transformation.
• Experience in semiconductor equipment, advanced manufacturing, industrial technology, or other complex engineering-driven industries is preferred.
• Experience working within a global matrix organization and managing international stakeholders is preferred.

• Bending/Twisting/Reaching: Positions self by bending, twisting, or stretching the body occasionally (20-30% of the time) to access equipment, inspect machinery, or reach workstations; moderate flexibility needed.
• Repetitive Motions: Performs repetitive actions occasionally (20-30% of the time), such as typing or adjusting equipment, requiring sustained focus but minimal stamina compared to manual labor roles.
