Social Media & A/V Production Specialist
Join a Growing Media Team at Everett Public Schools!
Our Educational Television Studio is expanding! We are building a modern, dual-engine media team to elevate how we capture, broadcast, and share the incredible stories happening across our school district and community. Located inside the Everett High School TV Studio, we are hiring two distinct, parallel roles at the same time: a Digital Media & A/V Production Specialist and a Social Media & A/V Production Specialist.
Together, these two positions will form the operational backbone of our Studio. While both roles share a strong, hands-on technical foundation in broadcast production, studio equipment maintenance, and district-wide Audio/Video school support, they split creatively to conquer different media landscapes. The Digital Media Specialist anchors our long-form broadcast editing, technical control room engineering, and equipment oversight. The Social Media Specialist acts as our agile storyteller, on-camera community voice, and short-form vertical video expert.
If you are a technically skilled media creator who loves to problem-solve and wants to shape the next chapter of Everett Public Schools' Educational Programming, we want you on our team!
Position Summary:
The Social Media & A/V Production Specialist is a high-energy, hybrid role that combines professional A/V field production with modern social media strategy. This role acts as the public voice, storyteller, and community bridge for the station. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable behind a cinema camera capturing raw footage, hosting on-camera student spotlights, or editing rapid-turnaround vertical videos (e.g. Instagram and Facebook Reels) to drive digital engagement. This individual ensures that the station''s broadcast content is successfully reimagined to capture attention across mobile and social platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Social Media Optimization & Content Creation (80%)
Micro-Content Production: Re-edit, optimize, and transform long-form broadcast footage, sports packages, and community stories into engaging short-form vertical video formats (e.g. Instagram and Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts).
On-Camera Hosting & Field Reporting: Serve as an occasional on-camera personality, interviewer, and host for school district events, sports sidelines, student features, and community spotlights, when needed.
Platform Strategy & Execution: Manage the daily publishing, copy writing, and scheduling of content across the station''s active social accounts (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, with more coming soon).
Graphic & Asset Design: Utilize asset bundles, photography, and templates to design highly engaging promotional graphics, video thumbnails, and event announcements.
Analytics Tracking: Monitor platform insights, video retention rates, and follower growth trends to adjust content strategies for maximum audience reach.
Field Production, A/V Support & Community Engagement (20%)
Day-to-Day Troubleshooting: Act as a primary point of contact for district staff experiencing immediate A/V issues (e.g., malfunctioning audio systems, projectors, microphones, miscellaneous displays, etc.), and escalating complex issues to the Digital Media Specialist where necessary.
Equipment Organization & Support: Assist in maintaining and organizing the studio''s physical gear space, with direct ownership over mobile/field social gear packages (e.g. camera kits, wireless lavalier mics, gimbals, ring lights, portable LED interview kits, etc.).
General Event Support: Collaborate on the physical setup and breakdown of audio/video systems, microphones, and screens for school activities and performances, ensuring smooth logistics while identifying opportunities to capture live public relations content.
Production Crossover Support: Act as a critical field crew member (camera operator, audio technician, grip) for major live remote broadcasts, including sports games, graduation ceremonies, and school committee meetings, when needed.
Audience Interaction & Student Mentorship: Manage public-facing social media comments and inquiries with a professional public relations approach. Help guide high school students interested in digital marketing and mobile video journalism.
Core Competencies & Physical Demands:
Outgoing Personality & Public Presence: Must feel confident, articulate, and professional when presenting on-camera or interviewing members of the public and student body.
Collaboration & Patience: Ability to work side-by-side with a Digital Media counterpart and assist district faculty & students with a helpful attitude.
High-Speed Adaptability: Strong ability to keep pace with online trends, pivot content strategies quickly, and hit tight publishing deadlines.
Availability: Flexibility to work evenings or weekends to cover school committee meetings, sports games, or community events (evening events often begin at 6pm or later; weekend events are rare but necessary).
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of production equipment, climb stadium bleachers and ladders safely, and remain standing for extended periods (e.g. while operating a camera).
Background Check: Must pass background checks, which include Massachusetts fingerprint check, CORI, SORI, and DCF background checks to work within a school building.
Qualifications and Technical Requirements:

Short-Form Video Editing: Advanced proficiency editing fast-paced vertical video inside Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Studio. Knowledge of mobile-first platforms (CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush) also considered.
Digital Design & Copywriting: Strong skills in graphic design via Canva and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, alongside excellent copy writing skills tailored for diverse social audiences.
Platform-Native Tools: Expert command of third-party scheduling tools, platform algorithms, auto-caption workflows, and trending applications.
