Social Media Content Creator & Publisher
Location: White Plains, NY
Pay Rate: $40/hr W2
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Work Schedule: Hybrid – Minimum 3 Days Onsite
Start Date: Immediate

Position Overview
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Social Media Content Creator & Publisher to support digital engagement initiatives for NYPA and Canals. This role will develop, curate, schedule, and publish compelling content across multiple social media platforms to increase brand visibility, engage audiences, and support organizational campaigns and initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines strong writing and editing skills with graphic design, short-form video creation, social media publishing, community engagement, and performance analytics experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging social media posts, graphics, and short-form videos aligned with NYPA and Canals branding and messaging.
  • Write clear, concise, and compelling copy tailored for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X.
  • Manage social media content calendars and schedule posts using approved publishing tools.
  • Ensure campaigns, events, announcements, and organizational updates are published accurately and on time.
  • Monitor social media channels for comments and messages and escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Support community engagement strategies that encourage positive audience interactions.
  • Track content performance and social media metrics.
  • Analyze results and provide actionable recommendations to improve content strategy and engagement.
  • Collaborate with NYPA and Canals marketing teams to align content with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to obtain content approvals and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain brand consistency across social media channels.

Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience creating and publishing social media content.
  • Strong copywriting, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience creating graphics and short-form video content.
  • Proficiency with social media management tools such as Meltwater, Sprout Social, or Hootsuite.
  • Working knowledge of Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience managing content calendars and scheduling posts.
  • Understanding of social media analytics and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Four-year college degree.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting energy, infrastructure, utility, government, or public-sector communications.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive content practices.
  • Ability to adapt tone, messaging, and content style for different platforms and audiences.
  • Creative, collaborative, and proactive approach to content development.

Work Schedule and Engagement Requirements
  • Monday through Friday.
  • 7.5-hour workday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
  • Hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of three days onsite in White Plains, NY.
  • The assignment may require additional onsite work based on departmental needs.
  • Fully remote work is not permitted, and remote-work privileges may be revoked.
  • NYPA does not provide laptops. A dedicated onsite workstation will be available, and workers must use suitable personal equipment and a reliable internet connection to access it remotely on virtual workdays.
  • Workers are paid for actual hours worked; paid vacation and sick leave are not provided.
  • No work is permitted when the business is closed for NYPA and Canals holidays.
  • Foreign-national status and all visa information must be disclosed during submission.
  • A Benefits Waiver and Ethics Disclosure are required during onboarding.
