JOB TITLE: Social Media Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: CBH Inc. / Marketing
REPORTS TO: Digital Marketing Manager
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time
LOCATION: Welch, MN; in person with travel as needed
Scope and Summary of the Position
The Social Media Coordinator owns daily social media execution and community engagement across different brands and assigned accounts for Prairie Island CBH, Inc. This full-time, in-person position reports to the Digital Marketing Manager and turns brand priorities into consistent, original content that strengthens CBH's market leadership, builds engaged adult audiences, and supports measurable business goals.
The coordinator works closely with the contracted Media Manager, graphic designers, the Cultural Coordinator, Events, Retail, Cultivation, and Distribution as one CBH team. The role requires an experienced creator who identifies opportunities, brings forward ideas, and carries work from concept through publication and reporting. The Digital Marketing Manager establishes overall digital direction, priorities, and budget approvals; this position takes ownership of social planning and execution within that direction.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Social planning and brand differentiation
Develop social media plans for each assigned brand and account, with clear audiences, objectives, recurring content themes, channel priorities, and measures of success. Translate approved campaigns and business priorities into practical weekly and monthly work.
Maintain distinct content, tone, visual treatments, and editorial calendars across different brands within approved brand guidelines. Adapt shared source material to each brand's identity and audience; avoid routinely publishing identical posts across brand accounts.
Maintain an active presence across approved, relevant channels and evaluate opportunities on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms where the proposed content is permitted. Tailor each channel's purpose, formats, captions, and engagement approach to its audience and rules.
Recommend and document publishing frequency, timing, and content mix by brand, platform, and format. Use audience behavior, performance data, campaign needs, and available resources to maintain a competitive cadence and adjust it as results change.
Content creation and media production
Turn approved photography, video, interviews, and event footage into finished social content. Select strong moments, edit short videos, create covers and simple graphics, and develop platform-specific posts, stories, carousels, and other appropriate formats.
Write accurate, engaging captions, video openings, scripts, titles, and approved calls to action. Maintain each brand's voice while keeping enterprise facts and messaging consistent. Proofread names, dates, product information, links, and disclosures before publication.
Capture timely photos, short videos, and interviews on site to supplement planned professional production. Identify stories about CBH's team, expertise, operations, community involvement, and events, with appropriate permissions and review.
Prepare clear creative briefs, shot lists, asset requests, specifications, and deadlines for the Media Manager and graphic designers. Coordinate feedback and delivery within approved scopes, and flag missing assets early enough to keep the publishing schedule on track.
Use appropriate video dimensions, pacing, thumbnails, subtitles, readable text, and available accessibility features. Apply relevant search terms, tags, descriptions, and platform features to improve discovery without misleading audiences.
Organize source files, approved edits, templates, and reusable content so assets are easy to find and repurpose. Track versions, credits, usage permissions, and expiration dates, and maintain a practical supply of approved evergreen content.
Editorial calendars and publishing
Maintain a rolling monthly content calendar showing the brand, platform, objective, format, asset owner, approval status, and publication date and time. Review the upcoming schedule weekly with the Digital Marketing Manager and coordinate dependencies with the team.
Build and maintain publishing queues using approved scheduling and native platform tools. Verify time zones, account selection, asset quality, captions, tags, and links; confirm posts publish correctly and promptly resolve failed or inaccurate posts.
Balance planned campaigns with timely content and audience conversations. Maintain backup posts and coverage plans, communicate delays, and bring practical alternatives when production or approvals change.
Keep profiles, biographies, approved links, location details, highlights, pinned posts, and campaign information current. Update or remove outdated material, and coordinate prompt corrections when products, hours, events, or operating plans change.
Community engagement and reputation
Monitor comments, direct messages, mentions, tags, and relevant conversations throughout assigned coverage periods. Respond professionally in the correct brand voice, meet agreed response standards, and encourage meaningful interaction with appropriate adult audiences.
Use approved responses for routine questions and route customer service, retail, wholesale, and media inquiries to the responsible team. Track handoffs so questions receive follow-through, and keep customer and business information confidential.
Apply moderation guidelines consistently. Promptly escalate product safety concerns, complaints, misinformation, impersonation, account threats, and sensitive Community or reputational matters to the Digital Marketing Manager and designated staff. Pause scheduled content when directed during an incident.
Use social listening and audience feedback to identify recurring questions, content opportunities, customer concerns, and changes in sentiment. Share useful findings with Marketing, Retail, Events, and other responsible teams.
Campaign coordination and event coverage
Coordinate social support for approved launches, retail activity, events, and enterprise announcements. Confirm timing, product information, availability, and other operating details with responsible staff before publication.
Plan event coverage before, during, and after each assigned activation, including shot lists, content needs, posting responsibilities, and recap deadlines. Coordinate evening or weekend coverage in advance with the Digital Marketing Manager.
Identify suitable creators, partners, and opportunities to share customer or community content. Coordinate approved collaborations, deliverables, usage permissions, and required relationship disclosures; obtain approval before making commitments or offering compensation.
Provide social creative, audience insights, and results to support broader digital campaigns. Execute paid or boosted social content only within approved budgets and where the product, content, audience, location, and platform rules permit.
Performance measurement and improvement
Establish baselines and track results by brand, platform, campaign, and content format. Evaluate qualified audience growth, reach, meaningful engagement, saves, shares, video retention, response performance, and customer actions where reliable data is available.
Use approved tracking links and campaign naming with the Digital Marketing Manager. Distinguish organic from paid results, identify how engagement rates are calculated, and explain attribution limits when connecting social activity to inquiries, visits, or sales.
Provide concise monthly reporting with results, strongest and weakest content, lessons, and specific recommended changes. Monitor active campaigns and publishing performance during the month so issues can be addressed promptly.
Track relevant competitors, audience interests, platform updates, and new formats. Propose and run approved tests of creative approaches, video openings, captions, timing, and recurring series. Use evidence to decide what to continue, improve, or stop.
Take initiative to identify missed opportunities, solve routine execution problems, and improve workflows. Prioritize work by business value and available capacity, communicate resource needs early, and follow through without repeated reminders.
Cannabis compliance and cultural respect
Follow applicable Tribal law, Cannabis Regulatory Commission requirements, compact obligations, other applicable requirements, and CBH's marketing review process. Coordinate questions with the Digital Marketing Manager, Compliance, and counsel before publishing uncertain or sensitive material.
Monitor platform community standards, advertising restrictions, branded content rules, and policy notices. Apply required age and audience controls and warnings; avoid youth appeal, unsupported health or therapeutic claims, and promotion of unsafe or excessive consumption.
Verify that posts, links, messages, promotions, and creator content are permitted for the intended channel. Do not facilitate prohibited transactions or use tactics designed to bypass platform restrictions. Report warnings, removals, or account limitations promptly and coordinate approved corrections or appeals.
Obtain guidance and appropriate permissions from the Cultural Coordinator before publishing Community stories, language, imagery, or cultural material. Respect Tribal sovereignty and Community protocols, and protect private or restricted information.
Confirm rights and consent for music, photography, video, likenesses, and reposted content. Maintain required endorsements and sponsorship disclosures and retain creative approvals and permission records. Use approved tools and protect confidential information in editing, scheduling, and any AI-assisted work.
Account administration and team coordination
Maintain company-controlled accounts, appropriate individual access permissions, multifactor authentication, backup administrators, and recovery information with IT and the Digital Marketing Manager. Keep account records and content available for authorized business use.
Document publishing, moderation, reporting, and account recovery procedures. Coordinate coverage and access changes for absences or staff transitions, and report security concerns or service interruptions promptly.
Participate in marketing planning meetings, maintain clear project status and deadlines, and collaborate respectfully with internal staff and creative partners. Perform other related duties consistent with the position as assigned.
Performance expectations
During the first 90 days, complete an assessment of assigned accounts and content, confirm access and approval workflows, establish performance baselines, and agree on brand-specific priorities and publishing cadences. Put reliable calendars, engagement coverage, reporting, and initial content tests into practice.
Ongoing performance will be evaluated against agreed goals for timely and accurate publishing, distinct brand execution, content quality, response standards, relevant audience growth, meaningful engagement, and measurable customer actions where data permits. Goals will reflect verified baselines, platform limitations, approved resources, and business priorities. Initiative, collaboration, cultural respect, and compliance are essential to success.
