Position Summary:
The Social Media Intern will assist in supporting the day-to-day functions of our organization. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit marketing and communications.

Responsibilities:

• Support daily administrative tasks and organizational operations
• Film, edit, and publish one short-form video/reel a week
• Create engaging short-form video content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Linkedin
• Help promote our shelter’s programming, community events, and other initiatives through social platforms
• Support efforts to maintain a consistent brand voice and presentation across social platforms  
• Stay current on social media trends, platform features, and evolving digital content practices
• Monitor social media activity, audience engagement, and emerging trends to help identify new content opportunities
• Assist with additional graphic design assignment as needed
• Help capture photos of residents and programming as needed
• Write social media copy as needed

Qualifications:
 

• Some college or pursing a degree in communications, journalism, digital media, marketing, broadcasting, public relations, or a related field
• Available during standard weekly business hours (8am-5:00pm)
• Strong interest in social media, digital content, broadcasting, journalism, or communications
• Proficient in Canva and short-form video editing tools
• Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook
• Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging social media copy
• Creative mindset and an interest in visual and digital storytelling

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Social Media metrics evaluation
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office.
• Passion for social impact and nonprofit work

Preferred Skills:

• Basic data analysis skills
• Prior volunteer or internship experience in a nonprofit setting
