Job Focus Area

At the Louisiana Department of Education - Early Childhood, our mission is to provide Louisiana families who are income disadvantage access to high quality child care. This allows parent to pursue employment or further their education. We are looking for a Social Service Analyst with compassion, great communication, and analytical skills as they assist our Louisiana families in obtaining child care assistance.

  • The preferred candidate should have administrative experience and/or professional experience. Knowledge of the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), CAFÉ, CAPS, and/or Eligibility Certification is preferred but not required. Basic knowledge of MS Office and Google Sheets.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in social services; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR

A bachelors degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As a Social Service Analyst, you will:

  • Review and process Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) applications to determine eligibility in accordance with program policies and procedures.

  • Utilize eligibility verification tools, including LINKS and The Work Number, to verify client information.

  • Review, verify, and accurately calculate and budget income reported by applicants and participants.

  • Review and process Change Reports when clients report changes to their household, income, or other case circumstances.

  • Contact clients as needed to verify information, obtain required documentation, and provide guidance and education regarding the application and eligibility process.

  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain and expand your knowledge of CCAP policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.

  • Have opportunities to attend child care conferences and events, engage with Louisiana families and child care providers, and gain a broader understanding of the early childhood system.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group. As part of a Career Progression Group,vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Social Services Analyst 1/2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Social Services Analyst 2 (SS-411)

Hourly: $17.52 - $31.57

Monthly: $3,037- $5,472

Annually: $36,442 - $65,666

Note regarding the advertised pay range:The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
