Software Architect

Location: Remote

The Role:

The Software Architect (Polyglot Systems Expert) will define, design, and evolve the architecture of Dicom Systems' high-performance, polyglot product suite. Our core technology stack leverages C++, Go, Bash, and Perl, and requires an architect who can lead complex, large-scale systems with deep technical precision.

The Software Architect collaborates closely with development, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure that best practices are consistently upheld across all layers of the software stack. All work is performed remotely.

Primary Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Define and evolve scalable, reliable, and high-performance product architectures that deliver optimal performance and efficiency.
• Drive the company's technical strategy and make authoritative decisions on the technology stack and implementation methods.
• Participate directly in development, code reviews, and mentoring of engineering teams.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks through advanced code optimization and performance tuning.
• Establish and enforce architectural patterns and coding standards across the codebase.
• Design and operate CI/CD systems at scale (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
• Maintain high build quality and reproducibility across distributed environments using Bazel (monorepo strategy, hermetic builds, remote caching, and reproducibility optimization).

Technical Requirements:

• Expert proficiency in C++ (modern standards) and Go (Golang) for production-grade systems.
• Advanced scripting expertise in Perl and Bash for automation, system administration, and data manipulation.
• Deep Linux systems knowledge, including kernel-level understanding, system calls, I/O models, and low-level resource management.
• Expert experience with concurrency and threading, including Go concurrency patterns and C++ multi-threading.
• Strong networking background, including TCP/IP stack, socket programming, and network performance optimization.
• Architectural fluency across distributed systems, microservices, and monolithic architectures, with the ability to select and implement the right model per use case.
• Proven experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines, including multi-stage deployments and environment promotion workflows.
• Expert-level proficiency in Bazel, including monorepo management, WORKSPACE/BUILD hygiene, Starlark extensions, and incremental build optimization.

A Big Plus:

• Experience with distributed databases or data streaming architectures.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/PLG stacks.
• Experience building high-volume data or ML pipelines with model artifact versioning and reproducible training.
• Hands-on experience with polyglot Bazel rules (rules_jvm, rules_go, rules_python, rules_node, rules_k8s).

Compensation:

Salary is dependent upon experience. A 401 (k) plan and other benefits are available. Compensation increases with experience, leadership scope, and certifications.
