Job Description

Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Software Engineer - C++ / GPU for a 12-month contract opportunity supporting a leading healthcare technology organization in Waukesha, WI. This role is ideal for a senior-level software engineer with strong C++ development experience, a background in Linux environments, and expertise in GPU-based high-performance computing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and test medical imaging software utilizing GPU and high-performance computing technologies.
• Design and implement image processing and reconstruction algorithms using C++, CUDA, OpenCL, OneAPI, and related technologies.
• Optimize application and algorithm performance across heterogeneous computing environments.
• Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate complex algorithms into production-ready software.
• Perform GPU profiling, benchmarking, testing, and reliability analysis.
• Support migration of algorithms from MATLAB, OpenCL, or other environments into optimized GPU-based implementations.
• Ensure software meets performance, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Document technical designs, testing results, and performance findings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with high-performance computing and heterogeneous computing environments.
• Strong C++ development experience.
• Experience developing within Linux/UNIX environments.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
• Experience with GPU technologies such as CUDA, OpenCL, or OneAPI.
• Experience optimizing GPU performance and computational efficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing image processing or image reconstruction applications.
• Python and Linux shell scripting experience.
• Knowledge of GPU profiling and performance tuning tools.
• Strong mathematical background supporting algorithm development.
• Biomedical Engineering background with strong software development experience.

The base range for this contract position is $45.00 - $65.00 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires across all U.S. locations. Individual compensation is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
