Responsibilities

Position Overview

REI Systems is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to design, develop, test, modernize, and support full stack enterprise applications for the ODOS Program. The successful candidate will translate business and user needs into effective technical solutions, contribute to design decisions, and collaborate across development, UX, QA, DevOps, architecture, and product teams. This role requires hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Angular or React, APIs, relational databases, automated testing, and production troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full stack web applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, React, and JavaScript.

• Develop scalable backend applications, business logic, microservices, and RESTful APIs.

• Design and build responsive, reusable, and maintainable user interfaces using Angular, React, and modern JavaScript.

• Integrate front-end applications with backend APIs, databases, and enterprise services.

• Develop applications using PostgreSQL, Oracle SQL, and other relational database technologies.

• Develop efficient SQL queries and support complex application data models and integrations.

• Modernize legacy applications using modern Java, React, API, microservices, and cloud-native development practices.

• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, integration problems, performance issues, and production incidents.

Application Engineering

• Translate business and user requirements into effective technical designs and working software.
• Participate in application design and architecture discussions.
• Develop applications using modern full stack and microservices-based architectures.
• Contribute to technical design decisions, coding standards, and software engineering practices.
• Conduct peer code reviews and provide technical feedback to other developers.
• Collaborate across development, UX, QA, DevOps, architecture, and product teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Testing CI CD and Production Support

• Develop unit, integration, regression, and automated tests.
• Apply Test-Driven Development and Behavior-Driven Development practices where appropriate.
• Work with JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium, and related testing technologies.
• Use Git/GitHub for source control, branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Develop and maintain applications integrated with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on application deployments and environment-related issues.
• Use Splunk and New Relic to analyze application logs, traces, metrics, and performance data when triaging production issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis of production incidents and identify application, database, integration, or performance-related causes.
• Support vulnerability remediation and secure software development activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 4-6 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong front-end development experience using Angular, React, and JavaScript.
• Demonstrated experience contributing to both front-end and backend development.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience integrating Angular or React applications with Java/Spring Boot backend services.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle SQL, or comparable relational databases.
• Experience with Git/GitHub, automated testing, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience troubleshooting application and production issues.
• Experience working within Agile software development teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing applications in AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Splunk and New Relic for application monitoring and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with cloud-native and microservices-based architectures.
• Experience with AWS services and databases such as Aurora and DynamoDB.
• Experience with JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium, TDD, and BDD.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications into modern Java and React architectures.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale or federal technology modernization programs.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and secure software development practices.

Education: Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Clearance.

Location: Hybrid (2 Day per week in our Sterling, VA HQ onTuesday and Wednesday)
