    Software Engineer, Full Stack

Location: Remote (Future Hybrid in San Francisco)
Company Stage of Funding: Series A Defense Technology Startup ($59M Raised)
Office Type: Remote (Candidates should be open to future onsite collaboration in San Francisco)
    Salary: $200,000–$320,000 + Equity

    Company Description

We're representing a rapidly growing defense technology company building autonomous aerial systems and the software platform that enables operators to coordinate thousands of autonomous aircraft in real time. Their mission is to develop next-generation command-and-control technology that redefines how autonomous systems operate at scale.

Backed by top-tier investors and founded by experienced aerospace entrepreneurs, the team is developing both the aircraft and the software stack in-house. This role focuses on building the mission-critical user interface that allows operators to monitor, coordinate, and control large fleets of autonomous vehicles while solving complex distributed systems and visualization challenges.

    What You Will Do

    • Design and develop the core frontend for a real-time command-and-control platform used to operate autonomous aerial systems.
    • Build full-stack features from architecture through production deployment.
    • Create intuitive interfaces for visualizing telemetry, mission planning, sensor data, fleet health, and operational status.
    • Develop scalable frontend systems capable of handling large volumes of real-time data.
    • Collaborate with backend engineers to build resilient distributed applications that continue operating under unreliable network conditions.
    • Build interactive visualization tools using modern web technologies and graphics frameworks.
    • Contribute across both frontend and backend systems as product needs evolve.
    • Partner closely with product and engineering leadership to define new user experiences with little existing precedent.
    • Continuously improve application performance, usability, reliability, and developer tooling.
    • Ship production software quickly through modern CI/CD workflows while maintaining high engineering quality.

    Ideal Background

    • 6+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.
    • Strong production experience building modern frontend applications using React or similar frameworks.
    • Demonstrated ownership of large, customer-facing product features from design through deployment.
    • Comfortable contributing across both frontend and backend engineering rather than specializing exclusively in infrastructure.
    • Experience building real-time applications, distributed systems, or data-intensive user interfaces.
    • Strong computer science fundamentals and experience solving complex technical problems.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
    • Eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. Citizen or otherwise clearance-eligible).
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with significant ownership.

    Preferred

    • Experience with WebGL, OpenGL, graphics programming, or advanced data visualization.
    • Background in gaming, simulation, robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or geospatial software.
    • Experience building interfaces that visualize rapidly changing or unreliable system state.
    • Familiarity with distributed systems, networking, or real-time communication protocols.
    • Startup experience building highly technical products from the ground up.
    • Strong UI/UX instincts with an eye for designing intuitive operator workflows.
    • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
    • Passion for defense technology, autonomy, and large-scale robotics systems.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Base salary: $200,000–$320,000.
    • Competitive equity package.
    • Remote-first position with plans for future hybrid collaboration in San Francisco.
    • Opportunity to help define one of the industry's most advanced command-and-control platforms for autonomous aerial systems.
    • Work alongside experienced founders and engineers from leading aerospace, robotics, and technology companies.
    • High-impact role with significant ownership across product architecture, user experience, and technical direction.
    • Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
