What we're looking for As a Software Engineer at OatFi, you will make significant contributions to a small but growing team as we build cutting-edge fintech infrastructure. You will work closely with your engineering team lead and your teammates to build core functionality and important feature sets in our loan management system, underwriting flow, capital markets automation, and payment processor integrations. You will report to an engineering team lead and will be responsible for shipping code that achieves OatFi's goal to provide high-quality APIs and underlying services to power a growing list of platform partners. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain robust backend solutions using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript. Build and optimize our partner-facing RESTful APIs to support our core fintech platform. Work with MongoDB to design and implement database schemas, ensuring data consistency, performance, and scalability. Collaborate closely with frontend engineers to develop seamless, full-stack features and maintain smooth integration between frontend and backend. Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including planning, development, code reviews, testing, deployment, and support. Optimize application performance and scalability, focusing on clean, efficient code. Troubleshoot and resolve issues, performing root cause analysis to improve reliability and stability. Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in the backend and full-stack ecosystem, contributing to the continuous improvement of our tech stack. Tech Stack Backend: Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript Database: MongoDB Frontend: React.js, Next.js Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science or comparable real-world experience 3+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong focus on backend development. Proficiency in Node.js and NestJS (or a comparable backend framework), with experience in building scalable, high-performance backend services. Strong expertise in TypeScript (or a comparable language), ensuring clean, well-typed code. Experience with MongoDB (or another database), including schema design, indexing, and query optimization. Familiarity with frontend development using React.js and Next.js is a plus. Solid understanding of RESTful API design. Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including code reviews, CI/CD, and testing methodologies. Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Full-stack development experience, with a good grasp of React.js, Next.js, and frontend state management. Previous experience in the fintech industry or knowledge of financial services concepts. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS.
