Software Engineer

Location: Seneca One, Buffalo, NY, 4 days onsite 1 day remote



Role Overview
Support application modernization initiatives across the bank. Applications vary widely and include legacy desktop applications, web applications, reporting tools, and systems that pull data from multiple internal and federal databases.
This is an application development and modernization role, not primarily an application support position. The developer will help modernize a portfolio of approximately 65 application codebases owned by the team, including older applications that have received limited attention.

Required Technical Skills
• C# / .NET: Experience with legacy C# .NET Framework applications and modernization to .NET Core.
• Application Development: Experience with MVC, VB.NET, and various application architectures.
• AI-Assisted Development: Hands-on experience leveraging AI tools for application development and code rewrites.
• Git: Source control and code management.
• Independent Ownership: Ability to manage multiple tickets, break down assignments, troubleshoot issues, and drive work independently.

Preferred
• .NET Core modernization experience.
• Angular front-end development.
• API development and integration.
• Zephyr testing tools and software testing experience.
• Experience with AI agents, skills, workflows, and chat integrations, particularly using Duo.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Support and modernize applications used throughout the bank.
• Manage multiple development and support tickets.
• Break down requirements and independently plan implementation.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and Scrum masters.
• Coordinate with other teams for application access and dependencies.
• Use AI tools to accelerate application rewrites and development.
• Participate in daily stand-ups and follow Scrum practices.

Candidate Profile
• Experience: Ideally 5+ years; 8–10 years preferred for a Software Engineer III.
• Strong technical ability and demonstrated experience are more important than years of experience alone.
• Banking or financial services experience is not required.
• Must be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
