Software Engineer (Payments and Finance Engineering)

Working alongside a talented team of engineers, our initiative is to build strategic Finance and Accounting capabilities to support Payments and Commerce at Apple. We enable the company to build first to market features that differentiate our products.

G&A Solutions Engineering (GSE) is IS&Ts dedicated technology partner for Apples general and administrative functions - including people, finance, facilities, legal, and security. The team builds and delivers integrated technology solutions that keep these functions running efficiently and securely at global scale. GSE also works closely with business teams to develop custom tools that improve productivity and bring greater automation and consistency to G&A operations across Apple. We are looking for a team member with a strong foundation in computer science theory along with industry experience. In this role, you will envision, design, develop, and deliver components of a well integrated, distributed system that will become the core financial capabilities for Apple. You have a proven record of writing proposals to solve complex problems by digging deep into a domain when needed and turning them into product features.In this role, you will lead the technical design and development of new products while navigating complex, ambiguous challenges. By cultivating strong cross-functional partnerships and developing a deep understanding of our business domain, you will translate requirements into meaningful, high-quality products that make a real impact.

4 years of experience in designing, implementing & supporting highly scalable systems and services in Java or other JVM-based languages

4 years of experience with different data store technologies (SQL, NoSQL)

2 years of experience in Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) and messaging technologies such as Kafka

2 years of experience in financial engineering, having knowledge of how payments/commerce transactions are processed through systems to reflect their accounting and financial impact

A bachelors degree in Computer Science or relevant work experienceUnderstand Engineering concerns like reliability, scale, availability, accuracy etc that are particularly important for Payments

Self-starter with strong customer and product focus, and a desire to gain awareness of an eco system and how systems collaborate

Ability to communicate thoughtfully, write engineering proposals, leverage problem-solving skills, build a learning mindset and establish long-term relationships

Practical experience with Postgres, MongoDB

Public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, etc)

Deployment experience using Docker and Kubernetes
