Role Summary

The Engineering Manager will lead delivery of core capabilities and foundational frameworks for the firm's strategic BRx Platform. BRx is a key modernization initiative focused on simplifying how clients integrate with multiple backend engines, aligning platform services to business capabilities, and enabling scalable, reusable, and resilient technology solutions across the enterprise.

This leader will manage engineering teams responsible for designing, developing, modifying, adapting, and implementing short- and long-term technology solutions through new and existing applications, platform services, systems architecture, and application infrastructure. The role requires strong technical leadership, operational discipline, and the ability to partner across product, architecture, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver platform capabilities that support enterprise modernization goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more engineering teams delivering core BRx Platform capabilities, shared frameworks, reusable services, and integration patterns.
  • Drive execution of platform modernization objectives that simplify client integration across multiple backend engines and improve alignment to business capabilities.
  • Provide technical and organizational leadership for application development, systems integration, application infrastructure, and platform engineering initiatives.
  • Partner with product management, architecture, business stakeholders, and dependent engineering teams to define priorities, roadmaps, delivery plans, and success measures.
  • Ensure teams review system requirements and business processes, design effective solutions, and deliver high-quality software through coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and implementation.
  • Oversee delivery of system improvements, ensuring successful implementation, operational readiness, scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
  • Manage teams working in a highly efficient Agile development environment, supporting iterative delivery, continuous improvement, and predictable execution.
  • Establish engineering practices, standards, and frameworks that promote reuse, consistency, quality, security, and alignment with enterprise architecture.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational challenges across related teams and platform capabilities.
  • Manage performance, staffing, training, development, pay reviews, and talent growth for engineering professionals and team leaders.
  • Allocate resources, set organizational priorities, and develop departmental plans that support business, production, technology, and modernization objectives.
  • Influence internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, to align priorities, communicate delivery progress, and support platform adoption.

Position Requirements

  • Experience: 10 or more years of software engineering experience, including 3 or more years of engineering management experience.
  • Leadership Scope: Experience leading teams of approximately 5-20 software engineers and SDETs.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Java, Spring, Kafka, Camunda, PostgreSQL, and Redis is preferred, but not required.
  • Hands-on Expectations: The primary responsibility is managing multiple engineering squads and maintaining a consolidated view of delivery progress across initiatives. The role will conduct code reviews to assess engineering quality, skills, and development needs, and must be able to contribute directly to the codebase to provide additional capacity in exceptional circumstances.
  • Operational Ownership: Own application implementation and delivery, define and document service-level objectives, and manage the L3 on-call support rotation. The role will also serve as an escalated L3 support contact for the application suite.

Compensation Range: The salary range for this position is between $240,000.00- $250,000.00 USD.
