Space Ground System Solutions, a Parsons company, has an immediate full-time opening for a software test engineer working onsite at our customer site located in Welcome, MD. The position will be responsible for software and system level testing using Neptune software at the Blossom Point Tracking Facility. This position requires a motivated individual who seeks to work in a team environment with complex systems and is comfortable working in a dynamic environment.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyze requirements, documentation, and confer with internal stakeholdersVerification and tracking of new featuresCreate and execute automated test scripts to aid in smoke and regression testingCreate, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test procedures for feature and regression testingTroubleshoot software system issues and work with other developers and testers to resolve test anomaliesWork as an effective team member across multiple disciplines (e.g. systems engineering, software development, Ops Support)Support the creation of new software releases and system deploymentsTracking software patching and release versionsProvide On-Call support of operational systemsAssist in preparing, providing direction, and reviewing relevant documentation to include Software Development Plans (SDPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and generating CM reportsWork closely with system engineers, government security team and leadership to ensure software design, compliance, and schedule adherenceREQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSMust be a US citizenMust meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining a DoD Secret clearanceMinimum of three (3) years' experience working as a test engineerProven ability to identify and troubleshoot potential software defectsProven ability to effectively communicate with developers to investigate and resolve test anomaliesExperience designing, developing, and executing test casesExperience with cloud computing conceptsExperience with Linux based operating systems and the command line interfaceExperience with test automation tools Experience writing and executing test scripts (e.g., Python)Excellent communication and teamwork skillsPREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSExperience with performance and stress testing concepts and familiarity with performance measurement tools (e.g., Prometheus, )Familiarity with Satellite Systems, Satellite Operations, and/or Aerospace Engineering conceptsFamiliarity with continuous integration techniques and technologiesFamiliarity with Agile development conceptsFamiliarity with Satellite Ground Hardware (FEPs, Antenna Controllers, Crypto, etc.)Experience with Atlassian Software Development and Collaboration Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket etc.)Experience with Object-Orientated Development conceptsExperience interacting with relational databases (e.g., INFLUXDB)Space Ground Systems Solutions (SGSS), a wholly owned subsidiary under the Parsons Corporation, is passionate about making our nation the undisputed leader in Space because we understand that ensuring our security for future generations depends on it.
