Solid Waste Route Runner

What a day looks like

You’ll meet your driver before sunrise, gear up, and head out on a defined route. As the truck moves, you’ll keep pace on foot — covering about 8 miles across the day — collecting household and commercial refuse by hand, lifting items to waist height, gripping securely, and working at a steady, brisk rhythm. You’ll help guide the vehicle while backing, clean the cab, record basic route details, and tidy up any spills to keep service safe, efficient, and courteous for every customer.

When you’re not on a route, you’ll support yard operations to keep equipment and the facility ready for the next day’s work.

Schedule and setting

• Monday–Friday, typically ~10-hour shifts
• Early morning, Day Shift
• In-person role

What you’ll handle

• Manual collection of solid waste from residences and businesses
• Transporting materials to appropriate disposal sites with the driver
• Heavy industrial lifting and occasional bending throughout the shift
• Working outdoors in all weather and sometimes in high-traffic areas
• Consistent use of required PPE and safe work practices

• Flexible availability for holidays, weekends, and overtime when needed
• Clear communication with your driver, customers, and teammates
• Readiness to assist with vehicle backing, cab cleaning, basic records, and spill cleanup
• Willingness to push/pull totes and receptacles between the truck and the customer’s designated area
• Required footwear: 6-inch work boots
