Konik is partnering with an established equipment manufacturer in Princeton, MN seeking a SolidWorks Mechanical Designer / Drafter to join their mechanical drafting team. This role will support the design and development of custom mechanical equipment by creating detailed SolidWorks models, manufacturing drawings, and documentation for fabricated components and assemblies.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of recent SolidWorks experience along with a strong mechanical background. Experience with sheet metal, stainless steel, weldments, and equipment design is highly preferred. This is an excellent opportunity for a designer or drafter who enjoys hands-on collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams and wants to contribute to custom equipment projects from design through production.
Responsibilities
Create and revise 3D SolidWorks models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
Develop production-ready drawings for sheet metal, stainless steel, weldments, fabricated components, and mechanical equipment.
Translate engineering concepts and specifications into accurate technical documentation.
Prepare and maintain drawings, dimensions, tolerances, bills of materials, and assembly details.
Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and production teams to resolve design questions and improve manufacturability.
Support design updates, revisions, and equipment modifications throughout the product lifecycle.
Assist with custom equipment design projects from concept through production release.
Qualifications
2+ years of recent SolidWorks drafting or mechanical design experience.
Experience creating manufacturing drawings and working with fabricated components.
Strong understanding of sheet metal design, stainless steel fabrication, and weldments preferred.
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and understand fabrication processes.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing custom equipment, machinery, or mechanical assemblies.
Familiarity with pneumatics, refrigeration systems, pressure vessels, or steam boiler applications.
Understanding of basic engineering calculations, including load calculations, BTU calculations, material strength, stress calculations, or center of gravity.
Experience supporting manufacturing or fabrication teams.
