JOB DESCRIPTION:
Role Name: SCG AMI 2.0 - Cloud Architect - Onshore
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Possible 3 Month CTH
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
? Define and own the AMIR multi-cloud integration architecture — AWS (primary compute/event backbone), GCP (Apigee X), SAP BTP IS, Azure (DevOps + Entra ID)
? Design the AWS serverless event-driven architecture: EventBridge bus topology, MSK (Kafka) topic design, Lambda function architecture, DynamoDB GNN Routing Table schema (4-state machine)
? Own HES and MDMS cloud hosting architecture — HA/DR design, network topology, VPC configuration, multi-AZ deployment
? Author Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and cloud architecture documentation; present to SoCalGas architecture review board
? Govern Terraform IaC strategy across AWS, GCP, and Azure environments
? Design security architecture for cloud components — IAM roles/policies, KMS encryption, VPC security groups, PrivateLink
? Support AWS Kiro Code Generation phase — review and validate Kiro-generated CDK artifacts against architecture standards
? Engage with AWS Strategic Programmes team as AWS Ambassador; leverage AWS funding/support mechanisms for AMIR
**REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
? AWS Platinum certification required (AWS Solutions Architect Professional minimum)
? AWS Ambassador programme participant strongly preferred
? AWS EventBridge, MSK/Kafka, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway — deep hands-on architecture and design
? Terraform IaC — multi-account AWS organisation design, cross-cloud IaC governance
? Multi-cloud architecture — AWS primary, GCP (Apigee/GKE), Azure (DevOps/Entra ID), SAP BTP IS connectivity
? HES/MDMS cloud hosting architecture in utility AMI environments preferred
? DR design — RTO/RPO definition, cross-region failover, backup strategy
? LA-based (or willing to relocate); onshore travel to SoCalGas offices required
? 12+ years cloud architecture; utility or critical infrastructure preferred
