Critical Skills
An experienced change practitioner with a track record of delivering business benefiting outcomes, demonstrating the ability to reach across functional boundaries to interlock on those outcomes.
Evidenced experience delivering complex data projects/ programmes, showing hands-on financial, risk, resourcing and execution control.
Experience in Real Time Data pipelines, API architecture and AI solutioning:
Technical awareness and experience in AWS Cloud native services, Snowflake, Cortex AI and Confluent
Tangible and extensive experience working in Scaled Agile teams (and certified in SAFE 6.0 or similar)
Stakeholder management to D/MD
The use of AI to manage delivery, create value and drive out capability and capacity
Desirable Skills
Comfortable operating across large Business units
Experience in Payments industry and/ or Corporate Banking / Transaction Banking
Experience in Product Management and Product Ownership at scale
Experience leading large complex teams on a matrix management basis

Purpose of the role
The Solution Train Engineer (STE) is a strategic leader responsible for orchestrating the seamless delivery of enterprise-scale solutions across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs). By driving alignment with business objectives, optimising execution, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, the STE ensures large-scale solutions are delivered efficiently, predictably, and with maximum customer and business impact.

Accountabilities

• Facilitate Solution Train Execution: Provide executive oversight of Agile Release Train (ART) execution within the Solution Train, ensuring seamless alignment with enterprise strategy and value delivery. Proactively identify execution gaps, enable corrective measures, and drive continuous synchronisation between program objectives and business imperatives. Champion a results-driven culture that maximizes operational effectiveness and strategic impact.
• Orchestrate Solution-Level Events: Spearhead the planning and execution of critical solution-level events ensuring these forums are strategically structured, efficiently run, and yield actionable outcomes that enhance cross-ART collaboration, accelerate delivery, and drive measurable business value.
• Enable Enterprise-Wide Collaboration: Establish and lead mechanisms that foster seamless integration between ARTs, suppliers, and key stakeholders. Proactively address dependencies, risks, and operational bottlenecks while cultivating a high-trust environment that enables transparency, innovation, and cross-functional synergy.
• Strategically Manage the Solution Backlog: Partner with key stakeholders to define, prioritise, and refine the solution backlog in alignment with enterprise goals. Ensure backlog items are continuously assessed and adapted to evolving market conditions, technical imperatives, and stakeholder feedback, optimising business outcomes and customer satisfaction.
• Proactively Manage Risks and Dependencies: Implement a robust risk and issue management framework to identify, mitigate, and resolve potential roadblocks before they impact solution delivery. Establish a structured escalation path for critical risks while maintaining ongoing monitoring and reporting to ensure sustainable execution at scale. Solution Train escalation point and drive solutions to address operational or systemic conflicts.
• Optimise Solution Train Flow and Operational Efficiency: Leverage Lean-Agile principles to drive efficiency, eliminate waste, and accelerate delivery across the Solution Train. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), analyse delivery metrics, and implement continuous process improvements to enhance velocity, predictability, and overall effectiveness.
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance and Governance: Lead governance initiatives to ensure all solution-level activities adhere to organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory mandates. Drive the creation and maintenance of compliance documentation, audit trails, and governance frameworks that reinforce operational integrity and mitigate business risks.
• Champion a Culture of Continuous Improvement: Institutionalise feedback loops, retrospectives, and best practice sharing to embed a culture of relentless improvement. Drive organization-wide learning by fostering innovation, adaptive execution, and knowledge-sharing that enhances agility and business resilience.
• Communicate with Influence and Executive Presence: Serve as the primary executive liaison, ensuring leadership, stakeholders, and teams remain strategically aligned. Provide clear, data-driven insights into progress, risks, and key decisions, fostering stakeholder confidence and ensuring sustained commitment to enterprise objectives.
