Special Education: Occupational Therapist (Senior) Powder Mill Campus

Overview

The Occupational Therapist IV will evaluate and subsequently plan and execute programs for children with neuro-motor, sensory integration, autism, developmental delay and emotional disturbances. The OT IV will work with and supervise occupational therapists and assistants and participate in intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary training programs for affiliating students, staff, and trainees.  The OT IV will consistently maintain appropriate student and department records.  Administrative supervisory responsibilities include ensuring compliance with departmental and organizational policies and procedures, performance appraisals, goals setting, progressive discipline, work/leave schedules and day-to-day workplace interventions and problem resolution.  Responsible for at least one specific clinical/research/administrative component within the Department.

Responsibilities

• Will be responsible for at least one major clinical component including scheduling, development, program implementation and supervision, and quality assurance.
• Screen, evaluate and treat students per their IEP.
• Supervises fieldwork students, and occupational therapists and assistants.
• Maintains written documentation, including student reports, progress notes, billing and IEP documentation according to the procedures of the school and Maryland OT guidelines.
• Instructs parents and caregivers in home therapy techniques to encourage generalization of skills.
• Will participate in the interdisciplinary orientation and teaching programs of the school.
• Assists in the development of school documentation, clinical policies and procedures specific to program areas
• Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
• Participates in the planning and executing programs for personal and professional growth and development.

• Qualifications

  • *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI.
  • *Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.
  • Ability to provide program development, evaluation, and performance improvement/ performance improvement measures within the school program area.

   

  EDUCATION:

  • Baccalaureate Degree minimum or a basic Masters in Occupational Therapy (MA/MS in OT preferred)

   

  EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years licensed experience in Occupational Therapy is required Experience in pediatrics and school based treatment preferred but not required. 

   

  RELATED TRAINING:

  • PCM or CPI training will be provided by the department, according to the individual program requirements. Employee must achieve and maintain certification (at the “Practitioner” level or higher for PCM, although Practitioner II certification is highly preferred) according to the timeline established within the departmental policy.
  • Eligible for licensure to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Maryland.

  USD $89,381.00/Yr.

  Maximum pay range

  USD $104,535.00/Yr.
