Position Summary:

We are seeking dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teachers to support PreK-12th grade students with diverse learning needs. This role includes planning and implementing specialized instruction, ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and collaborating with general education teachers to promote student success.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with various exceptionalities, including learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, and speech/language impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized, standards-based lesson plans aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and student IEPs.

  • Provide direct instruction, interventions, and accommodations tailored to student needs.

  • Assess student progress and use data to guide instruction and IEP goal adjustments.

  • Maintain compliance with Special Education laws (IDEA, Section 504, ADA) and ensure proper documentation.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to implement inclusive practices.

  • Support students with social-emotional learning (SEL), behavior management strategies, and self-advocacy skills.

  • Participate in ARD/IEP meetings, provide progress reports, and track accommodations in alignment with district and state guidelines.

  • Assist in training and supporting classroom aides, paraprofessionals, and general education staff.

  • Utilize assistive technology and adaptive tools to enhance student learning.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in Special Education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.

  • Valid Texas Special Education Teaching Certification (EC-12) required.

  • Experience working with PreK-12th grade students with diverse learning needs (preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of Special Education laws, instructional strategies, and data-driven instruction.

  • Ability to differentiate instruction and implement inclusive teaching practices.

  • Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills.

  • Experience with progress monitoring, IEP development, and ARD meetings.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of Special Education teaching experience.

  • Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).

  • Experience with co-teaching and inclusive education models.
