Assignment Duration: Through the end of the 2026 2027 school year

Position Overview:

Dearborn Public Schools is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) endorsement to support students in grades 4 5 in a self-contained classroom. The selected teacher will provide specialized instruction and behavioral support to students with autism through the remainder of the school year.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs.
- Manage a self-contained classroom supporting students with autism and varying academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
- Implement appropriate behavioral interventions, accommodations, and instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and special education teams.
- Monitor student progress, maintain IEP documentation, and participate in required meetings.
- Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) endorsement is required.
- Experience in self-contained special education classrooms preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Important Credentialing Requirement:

All contract teachers must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate AND an ASD endorsement. Substitute teaching permits or licenses are not accepted for contract staffing assignments.

Additional Information:

This assignment is expected to continue through the end of the 2026 2027 school year.
