Special Education Teacher – Emotional Disabilities (SPED ED / Intensive Program)

Location: Leesburg, VA 20175
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 45 Weeks
Shift: Day | 8:30 AM–3:45 PM
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 5 Days/Week
Local Candidates: Accepted – Must live within 50 miles
Traveler Candidates: Not Accepted
Pay Rate: $35–$40/hr, based on experience

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field

• Active Virginia Special Education teaching license

• Endorsement or background in Emotional Disabilities or behavior support

• Experience working with students with emotional or behavioral challenges

• Strong behavior management and crisis intervention skills

• Experience developing and implementing IEPs and BIPs

• Strong classroom management and communication skills

• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to students with emotional disabilities

• Develop and implement individualized IEPs and behavior plans

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs

• Use appropriate behavior management and de-escalation strategies

• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment

• Adapt curriculum and instructional materials based on student needs

• Monitor and document student progress and behavioral incidents

• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, psychologists, administrators, and parents

• Participate in IEP and multidisciplinary meetings

• Follow school policies and applicable special education regulations
