Special Education Teacher

Job Goal:

The Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union High School District (Badger High School) is seeking a cross-categorical special education teacher to join our district team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides parents and staff with instructional and behavioral strategies to support students' progress with IEPs in all educational settings. Ensuring the least restrictive, most appropriate educational program for all students.
• Serves as a case manager and act as a resource on the instructional practices and methodology of the most effective teaching of students with disabilities.
• Writes IEPs that support students in meeting their goals, closes learning gaps, and participates in the general education classroom as much as possible
• Demonstrates effective problem-solving and progress monitoring techniques related to designing and implementing child-specific instruction and intervention strategies
• Monitors children's behavioral patterns and arranges appropriate interventions if needed
• Collaborates with the related services staff (e.g. school counselors, psychologists, speech therapists, OTs, PT and educational aides) to create support and intervention plans
• Other Duties as Assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The employee has frequent contact with students and members of the community. While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to engage in conversations and is required to utilize communication skills, such as speaking and listening. The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk at regular intervals throughout the workday. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Essential functions require a high level of concentration and attention to detail.
