With a groundbreaking school design that centers our children as world travelers and change agents, we deliver rigorous instruction that empowers scholars to take ownership over their learning while equipping them to compete on the local, national and international stage.  POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIESSpecial Education Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students who have been identified with disabilities. The special education teacher is also responsible for the development and management of IEPs and related services for the students they service. The special education teacher is responsible for demonstrating strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, as well as good organizational ability. Demonstrated ability to analyze raw data and develop goals for studentsExperience working with a diverse population including low to moderate-income families.Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties requiredPossess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with other teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff and outside professional contactsEstablish and accurately maintain a variety of files and record keeping systems Understand, communicate and implement oral and written instructionsBe able to fluidly use and incorporate technology into teaching Maintain confidentialityEstablish and maintain co-operative relationships with those contacted during the performance of required duties, including school personnel, students, parents and the communityMaintain regular attendanceTeach personal development skills such as goal setting, independence, and self-advocacyDevelop and implement strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of handicapping conditionsAbility to prepare lesson plans and organize a meaningful instructional programModify the general education curriculum for special-needs students, based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologiesAbility to evaluate critically the educational achievements of students and to give assignments according to their interests and abilityDemonstrate the ability to exercise patience, caring and concern in new and sometimes stressful situationsAbility to participate and receive coaching in your craftAbility to travel, attend trips, and scheduled school eventsEDUCATION:Bachelor's degree with valid PA certificationSpecial Education Teaching Certification (preferred) or Emergency Certification EligibleIncentives & Opportunities:Opportunity to work ESY for additional payYear-to-Year Retention BonusPaid tuition to get certified in Special ServicesCompetitive Salary COMPENSATIONInitial salary offers for this position range from $47,000 – $75,000. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education.
