Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs advanced specialist duties for the Visitor Services Department.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs advanced specialist duties as a part of the Visitor Services Recruitment Specialist team. Oversees planning of Group Campus Visits, and assists with Jr. Bearkat events, Summer Camp administration, as well as other recruitment and community engagement events as determined by supervisor. Plans and implements recruitment programs within the Department of Visitor Services; includes events for youth, young adults, adults, and current SHSU faculty/staff. Reviews Visitor Services marketing and website content and materials. Communicates academic and non-academic recruitment opportunities to the Visitor Services Coordinator. Works in conjunction with the Visitor Services staff and students. Prepares budget forms for various events and programs. Manages and orders inventory for Visitor Services recruitment event materials. Serves as an effective advocate for the Visitor Services office to other campus entities, building positive relationships in order to ensure quality recruitment opportunities are available to all campus visitors. Gives recruitment presentations to campus visitors, both in large and small groups. Helps supervise the Visitor Services student staff members, including planning of and participation in bi-annual training and retreats. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature. Works closely with the Visitor Services staff and is expected to be organized, a strong communicator, and a team player. Must also posses technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
