Description of Work
This Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary teams with primary responsibilities of facilitating communication and maximizing swallowing safety for the individuals with the facility. Through direct and indirect services, the SLP provides evaluation, direct treatment, program planning, in-service training, and consultation with staff to ensure integration of service and maintains required records and documentation.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $66,696 to $ 110,049
Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of professional speech and language theory, techniques, principles, and procedures.
Familiarity with a broad range of augmentative communication systems designed to develop functional communication for individuals who do not demonstrate typical communication abilities.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work well within a team of professionals and a willingness to adapt to change, when needed.
Experience working with individuals who may be diagnosed with a wide spectrum of psychiatric and/or developmental conditions that may include unpredictable behaviors, maladaptive, and potentially dangerous behaviors is preferred but not required.
Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC), located in Wilson, NC, is a state-operated certified Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). With a staff of about 520, LNMTC provides support to approximately 200 residents with complex medical needs and/or co-existing neuro-cognitive disorders.
