JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Speech/Language Paraprofessional

TYPE- OF POSITION: Classified

REPORTS TO: Speech & Language Pathologist, Principal

POSITION PURPOSE: To assist the speech and language pathologist to achieve teaching objectives

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Assists the SLP with scheduling case conferences and therapy time when needed.
  • Assists the SLP in devising materials based on meeting student needs as indicated in Individualized Education Plans.
  • Conducts hearing screenings as required by state statute.
  • Assist the SLP with copying and laminating student materials.
  • Uphold the mission of WCSC.
  • Alerts the SLP to any problems pertinent to job functions.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
  • Record keeping as assigned by SLP.
  • Other duties as assigned by building administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to plan and organize.
  • Skills in human relations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.
