Position Statement Under the direction of the Director Rehabilitation Services and in coordination with the SLP Clinical Supervisor, provide Speech and Language services for oral motor, hearing, swallowing, cognitive, and speech/language disorders. Provide skilled assessment and intervention to properly diagnosis and restore communicative, cognitive, and swallowing dysfunction to clients of all ages across multiple service settings. Key Responsibilities: Perform complete evaluation and assessment including appropriate standardized testing of patients with a variety of SLP appropriate diagnoses and identify the need for skilled treatment or referrals to outside specialists. Implement safe and appropriate treatment procedures based on current practice standards and provide education including home programs, caregiver training, and adaptive recommendations which are regularly assessed and modified based on response to SLP interventions. Perform duties of clinical instructor for SLP students as required. Communicate with referring providers and other care team members as needed. Complete continuing education that promotes current best practice standards and allows for professional growth/development. Provide education, training, and in-services to other medical providers and the community as requested. Complete medical records that are in compliance with insurance, regulatory, legal, and department requirements in a timely fashion. Submit patient charges that are consistent with documentation. Assist in program development, department quality activities, policy/procedure review, and other activities that foster the achievement of departmental and organizational goals. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required is a Masters degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology, hold or actively completing a Certificate of Clinical Competence, and be licensed to practice in the State of Vermont. The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Excellent communication/collaboration, analytical assessment, and independent decision-making abilities are all required skills. Ability to adjust treatment approach, objectives, and communication style based on influences such as the patients age, physical/psychological/social needs, cultural background, and other factors that influence delivery of care. Computer competence required. Ability to follow NCHs standards of behavior. Physical Demands: Manual dexterity and mobility required. Some lifting of supplies, equipment, and positioning of patients required.
