POSITION: Speech-Language Pathologist LOCATION: Novi Community School District (Multiple Positions)

SCHEDULE: Full Time (1.0 FTE) SALARY: Per the NEA Agreement

JOB DESCRIPTION The school Speech and Language Pathologist carries an active, direct service caseload of students with IEPs and serves on the assessment team for initial and 3 -year multidisciplinary evaluations that address the communication domains.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders/Speech and Language Pathology, Valid full Michigan License in Speech and Language Pathology, current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or ASHA Clinical Fellow (CF)
• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
• A strong commitment to educating students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment, as demonstrated by experience with collaborative delivery models within an educational setting
• Collaborates with teaching staff to provide instructional strategies to address the speech and language needs of students with various disabilities
• Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction as a tool for student learning and/or communication
• The ability to independently and accurately implement the requirements of IDEA and Michigan's Special Education Rules on behalf of caseload students
• The ability to participate as a collaborative team member in differential diagnosis and decision making

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of programs to improve communication skills
• Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring students suspected of having communication impairments
• Provide a thorough assessment of communication impairments
• Provide screening to identify students in need of special education evaluations
• Assist in proper referral of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community
• Provide appropriate individualized program of therapy to meet individualized student IEP goals and objectives
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to integrate therapy goals into the students' daily activities
• Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate
• If case coordinator, schedule and chair these IEPs
• Function as team members for initial referrals, re-determinations of eligibility, IEPs, including maintaining contact with school, family, physicians and agencies
• Complete record keeping including keeping data on student progress for progress reporting
• Complete monthly Medicaid billing (if you have your CCCs) and Random Moment Time Studies (RMTS)
• Provide and/or participate in professional development
• All other duties as assigned by administration
