Position Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: Montezuma Elementary School

Reports To: Director of Special Education

Employment: Full-Time or Contract

Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist provides comprehensive speech and language services to preschool through sixth-grade students to support communication skills that impact educational performance. The SLP collaborates with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure students receive high-quality, evidence-based services in compliance with IDEA and Indiana Article 7.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct speech-language evaluations and participate in initial evaluations, reevaluations, and educational assessments.
• Develop, implement, and monitor speech and language goals within Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Provide direct and indirect speech-language therapy services in individual and small-group settings.
• Complete evaluation reports, progress reports, Medicaid documentation (if applicable), and all required records within established timelines.
• Participate in Case Conference Committee (CCC) meetings and provide recommendations regarding eligibility, services, accommodations, and supports.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to support student success in the least restrictive environment.
• Consult with staff regarding communication strategies, assistive technology, AAC systems, and classroom accommodations.
• Conduct speech-language screenings and assist with Child Find activities.
• Maintain accurate service logs, billing documentation, and compliance records.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state special education regulations and professional ethical standards.
• Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Current Indiana Speech-Language Pathology license.
• Indiana Department of Education Communication Disorders license (or eligibility, as required).
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.
• Experience with preschool and elementary-aged students preferred.
• Knowledge of IDEA, Indiana Article 7, IEP development, and evidence-based intervention practices.

Preferred Skills

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with AAC, autism spectrum disorders, articulation, language disorders, fluency, and social communication.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet compliance timelines.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the school building.
• Ability to lift instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to supervise and interact safely with young children.
